2015 Genesis 3.8 w/tech package windshield

If I need to replace my windshield do I absolutely have to get OEM glass or can I get a replacement from Safelite? In either case do I have to have the ADAS recalibrated? Can Safelite do that or do I need to go to the dealer?
I appreciate any insight anyone is willing to share.

From what I've read here previously, it does need to be re-calibrated. And I'd be surprised if anybody besides Hyundai could do it.

But don't know for certain.

I got mine done at Safelite. I have the tech package and had to buy their calibration service on top of the windshield price. They did a good job. No issues with the windshield or the electronics. I got the aftermarket windshield since it was 1/3 of the price of OEM. No insurance involved so I paid for it all myself.

I believe if replacing through insurance there would be no deductible as it can be classified as a “safety issue”. Of course its up to their discretion depending on condition of your current windshield

With 50 sets of state laws I don't want to make a blanket statement but at least some require full glass coverage be included if you have collision/comprehensive insurance. I worked with a guy that got his pitted windshield replaced. He tried to remove some of the pitting with a hammer and it seems it was not the right tool. Or was it?

At least the pitting was a lot less noticeable afterwards....

Thats the right move, cant fix it?.....need a bigger hammer!

Safelite does have the equipment and will re-calibrate after the install. FYI if you go OEM at a dealer your insurance may not cover the inflated dealer price.
