If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi everyone. I recently purchased a used 2015 Genesis 5.0 which is a very nice car to drive. However, I am having issues with the reverse camera I believe. The first issue is that it looks very blurry even after cleaning the camera lens. Second issue is that the camera angles do not change when selecting different camera views. The guide lines change but not the image.

I tried disconnecting the camera and reconnecting by removing the trunk lid cover. No go.

Do I have to purchase a new camera? If so no big deal, but just checking for any other solution before I waste $120.

Do my camera even supposed to change views on the 2015 model? Is the camera images always fuzzy or not sharp?

a 2015 is still under the 5/60 warranty.. take it to a dealer. there shouldn't be any charge for the repair. unless it has over 60K miles.

I have less than 60k miles, but was told that I only have power-train coverage until 60k due to being the second owner.

I got a great deal on the car which was part of me complaining about the reverse camera image, however I really do not know if it by design that the resolution look so unclear.

I have guide lines and image does seem more crisp closer to the rear bumper, but the rest of the field of view is not sharp.

Only Rear and Downward.
Thank you. It seems that is how it looks by design I guess. The guide lines does switch from top view to normal view, so I assume the image angle is suppose to change as well.

I glad I did not buy a new camera/handle unit just to find this out.:)

However to clarify, the image does not change perspective depending if top or normal view is selected?

Here is what my reverse camera look like in the two modes.

The line change but not the image aspect.

I use Top View. From my perspective, your camera is pointed to low. I barely see the edge of my rear bumper, so I know the bottom of the screen is the car.

The angles are definitely not correct.

Thanks a found a video that shows how the camera work in the 2016 model and it does looks my camera is broken. I guess the camera lens is suppose to move to change the viewing angle, which mine does not do. I will just buy a new camera like planned.

that is not entirely correct, warranty is dictated by Federal law, however the Hyundai warranty does have some limits in their 5/60K

the 5/60K applies to the car, not how many owners it has, as long as the car is under 5/60K you are entitled to the warranty. the limits are as follows:

The following components are covered for time and mileage limits indicated:
• Radio and audio systems (i.e., radio, compact disc player, DVD player, navigation system, and Bluetooth®): 3 years/36,000 miles
• Paint: 3 years/36,000 miles
• Battery: 3 years/unlimited miles (100% covered 2 years/unlimited miles; after 2 years and within 3 years, 25% cost of battery and 100% labor cost covered)
• Air conditioner refrigerant charge: 1 year/unlimited miles
• Adjustments: 1 year/12,000 miles
• Wear items: 1 year/12,000 miles (e.g., belts, brake pads and linings, clutch linings, filters, wiper blades, bulbs, fuses)

so for the Radio/Audio system (not sure if the camera actually falls under that as it is not specifically listed) you only have 3/36k from the time the car was first put into service (purchased and titled by the first owner). it is not based on the manufacture date, but the in service date.

I purchased a 2015 Genesis 3.8 back in April 2018. The rear view camera is blurry in my vehicle as well. I took the vehicle to two different dealers and the techs at both places didn’t think there was anything wrong with the camera. As a previous 2015 Genesis owner, I don’t think the camera was this bad. I traded a 2014 Lexus GS 350 F Sport and the camera on that vehicle was crystal clear, maybe the quality of the camera on the Genesis is not as good as the Lexus camera?

Thank you. My Genesis have 50k miles so I only have the drive-train coverage for a short time. I can live with the camera as is for the time being since it does work well enough to help me park in addition to the sensors and side mirrors. A new camera only about $130 for the 2015-2016 models per Ebay and online Hyundai part stores so it is not too bad.

The camera quality is not as good as some other makes out there I noticed after doing some research. My image quality is on par with the back-up camera video I posted, so the camera is just a low res unit in my 2015 model. However, my camera does have an issue with changing angles which is not big deal since I can use it as is. I was thinking that the issue was messing up my image quailty, seems like it does not. So I will leave well enough alone for the time being.

You might want to clean the camera with some rubbing alcohol to remove any residual (road debris, wax, etc...). I doubt that will make a difference, but it's worth a shot.

These are images from my backup camera. Rear view and top view. Not super clear. But it does the job. MVIMG_20180625_152943.webpMVIMG_20180625_152956.webp

Thank you. Your post just confirmed that my camera is not working correctly.

I actually read my zero deductible comprehensive aftermarket Assurance extended warranty coverage booklet and it does covers the back up camera under electronics. I assumed that it did not, but comprehensive really does mean everything under this policy.:)

I will take it in one day when I get to it or sooner if the camera gets worst.

Please let us know how the Assurance extended warranty works out.
