  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone have any luck finding and using a tune on the 5.0?

No dice so far.

The ECU tune would probably only give about 10 extra horsepower or so on the N/A 5.0 engine and maybe some extra features like speed limit removal and hopefully launch control. Hence, why no one is motivated enough to break the code; since most 2015+Genesis/G80 5.0 owners probably would not buy the tune.

Most Genesis owners who want a quick sporty ride would probably just buy the G80 sport model or a G70.

The only sporty 2015+ 5.0 Genesis/G80 model is the 2015 5.0 Ultimate model; which does not have enough available models on the road for a engine tuner to even waste time trying to design a tune for it when the 3.3T engine models(G70,Stinger,G80 Sport)are the popular choice in tuning now.

Yeah unfortunately:(. But I see blood sport racing has a ecu tune and coming out with a tcu tune in the near future. Hopefully it’s good.

The BTR tune seem to make pretty good power(appears to be over 20whp). I did not know there was a tune for my 2015+ 5.0 engine, especially with the 3.3T around.

When my warranty expires I may give it a shot in my 2015 5.0.

Note: I notice on the BTR dyno test that the engine do not start making any power until about 2k rpms or higher like with the tune. The engine must have some type to failsafe that prevents WOT under 1.5k rpms; hence the laggy gas pedal from a standstill.

I work for a genesis dealership. Just get the package that gives you 2 ecus. Old that has tune and your other that have original software. If anything happens just swap it out and they won’t be none the wiser about it.

Good advice. That was the plan as well if I decided not to wait for my warranty to expire. I really did not want to permanently tune my main ecu anyway just in case something bad happens with the tune.

Howver, I prefer handheld tuners that store the old ECU information over sending out my ECU to be re-flashed. However, it seems like I have no choice but to send my Genesis ECU away to be re-flashed if I want to gain about 24 more whp and the about the same amount of torque which would shave few 1/10th seconds off my 0-60 time. If I can get this car to do 0-60 in about 4.5-4.6 seconds consistently with the tune then I will be happy with the tune results.

Yeah same here. I just want mine faster. Just no a lot of aftermarket stuff for the 5.0.

Out of curiosity, what all is involved with cracking an ecu? I used to have a subaru and used an open source program called Rm Raider. Seems it would be nice if there was a community driven option we could use on a laptop to tune ourselves.

I either watched a video or read on another forum that full throttle these cars only go to like 80% open and that the gas pedal percentage vs the throttle open percentage is not a 1:1 ratio. I would have to think that a tune would take care of that though.

Seems true that the stock pedal is restricted or regulated somehow. However, devices like the Sprint booster seem to overcome throttle restrictions. My throttle opens in the 90-100% range with my Sprint Booster based on my Torque Pro live logs.

However, it still seems like our engines are torque limited or something until about 2k rpm before the car actually accelerates with a purpose.

Has there been any new news on this since 2021? Did anyone actually try any of these tunes for the ultimate model?

Yes. I have a TCU tune and stage 1.5 ECU for my DH from GEPTuned.

Are you happy with it? I've been debating on getting my 5.0 tuned.
Go to gep tuned on you tube it shows what he can do and shows gains he gets on the dyno.

I've watched his videos and even spoke with him via email. I'm just wondering if you are happy with it yourself? How does it drive after the tune? Does it get rid of that slight mid range hesitation at WOT?

Yeah I've been happy with it. I had to send the ECU back and get it updated. I also removed the mild burble tune because it was causing me problems. Still highly recommend it though.

What did you get updated on it, besides removing the burble?

Yeah please I'm interested too ! and if possible please tell us how much it cost
