  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Second time this has happened within a month. Out of nowhere, I will try to start my car and it's completely dead. I was able to unlock it but when I sat down to start it I heard a little click then the steering wheel locks up,, break is stiff and no juice at all. The first time it happened it just came back on after an hour or so. What could this be? Thanks in advance.

Test your battery, or take the battery into a place for testing. My car had similar issues and I had a bad battery even though it was nearly new. A replacement battery solved this problem for me.

I'd start with checking the battery strength- if the battery in your vehicle hasn't been changed, it's right around the time the OEM battery would be ready to go on to that great battery heaven in the sky. I'd next check the battery terminals for looseness or corrosion. It sorta sounds like something is loose or shorting-out.

It was the battery. Thank you guys so much for your feedback,, I really appreciate it.

It may be more than just the battery. I replaced my battery today for the FIFTH time since November 2018. I also recently replaced the radio/navigation and menu screen because it was not turning off properly. This replacement did not eliminate the phantom drain on my battery.

This isn't uncommon. I purchased a Genesis 2 days ago, and took it back on the 2nd day. Car would shut off completely and then come on later. Dealership thought it was a dead battery. We knew better. Amazing car when it works, but.........
