  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This is my first post on the forum in spite of being a member since last October. Yesterday I received an official recall notice from Hyundai (please see this link http://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2016/hyundai-genesis-recalled-instrument-cluster-lights.shtml )

My odometer returned to zero a few months back and I have been lagging at getting it fixed. I have seen other entries about this problem on this board. Just wanted other Genesis owners to know to watch their mailbox!

Regards - Docketguy2015 :(

Interesting, thanks for sharing. My car is about one Year older but had an issue with the backlight randomly dimming after changing driving modes.

The recall affects Genesis sedans with a build date of February 1, 2015, through May 20, 2015,

... and the cluster that comes on Tech, and above IIRC. Signature and Base are not impacted.

I received a notice about this as well. Canadian 2015 Genesis Tech Package built in March, 2015. Getting the update this Saturday.

From the scary stories I've seen posted about this here, I'm surprised the cause was software-related. Would've thought it would be some other serious hardware/electrical issue that requires swapping the whole instrument cluster.

What is even stranger is cars built before this are not affected yet they updated the software in May 2015? Sounds like they got it right the first time, tried to improve something then reverted back to the stuff that works.

What's more typical and happens a lot is they update one section of the software and don't fully check out the complete new SW package after compiling in the fixes. Then it gets sent out and they later find issues in another section that wasn't changed but some how the updates affected it. So they have to make a new build of SW to address the new issues, not necessarily go back to the old one.

I see it often in the test and evaluation world I work in. ;)
So when they come in with new SW, I'm adamant that they do a full systems check before I let them leave after installing the new SW.

I understand this however this means us early adopters like myself use the older software and are not updated? My build is before the recall and have not had a SW update. Not that I have any issues but sure sounds a little odd.

I'm in the same boat as you, build date 24 Dec 2014. ;)

Just to let others know, the problem can happen more than once. My odometer reset itself again 2 days ago. Very much looking forward to my repair appointment next week!

Just had ours done - took about 40 min. The only symptom we had was the proximeter sensor would go off randomly when at a stoplight etc.

Car has been great, no other issues to report..

If you had a car in front of or behind you then this is not a symptom - it is normal operation.
