  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The drivers side mirror will no longer tilt right-to-left or in and out, however you wantto look at it. It still functions to adjust up and down. The passenger side mirror works fine in all directions so I am assuming a portion of the drive motor has malfunctioned and probably needs replacement.
Anyone else experience anything similar? Anyone know how easy it is to remove the mirror glass to get access to the drive motor?
The auto tilt-down in reverse function works fine on the passenger side mirror so I'm pretty sure the switches are all functioning as they should.
Appreciate any insight anyone may have to offer

there are some diy threads on servicing and replacing the plastic gears that wear out but the operation looks a bit complex. A new mirror is Big Buck$$$$ and comes unpainted.

very big bucks. $1,162.46 with tax, installation & paint. Insurance company paid for the mirror less my $250 deductible.

so insurance will pay for mirror just because it stopped working or does it have to be hit or vandalized for them to pay for it?

No, insurance will pay if it's been vandalized, same as damage from a wreck. For 6K plus a year for 3 cars I figure they owe me a mirror. Can't say it quit working do to vandalism but can't say it didn't.
