  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all my 2015 Genesis Sedan 108k miles just downshifts when i try to gas it too quickly. Yesterday i gassed and my hand slipped and downshifted it with the paddle. I quickly put it back into drive and nothing came of it i drove it home from the gym with no problems. Today My engine light came on shortly after i tried to gas it and it just downshifted by itself my hand did not slip this time. am i screwed?

That's not nearly enough information to make a guess about it. At the least, you need to find out what the OBD DTCs are. If you don't have a code reader, see if your local auto store can read the code(s) for you. Post the full five or seven digit code(s) here, not what the auto store says they think it means.

engine code is reading P0521 aka oil pump issue my oil light came on not too long ago Ive since checked the oil and received a oil change as well as a oil pan removal and cleaning. my mechanic didnt see anything there. i saw many other were having the same issue with the oil light coming on when decelerating and when idle but doing away when driving above 2krpm. to replace the sensor is going to run me $1500 due to hyundai placement of the sensor.

Note that P0521 is not "oil pump issue." It is Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch Range/Performance. There was no reason to drop the pan or suspect the oil pump for that specific code.

You probably really should get that sensor replaced. The PCM actually controls engine oil pressure to an extent, based on what that sensor reads. It is probably commanding high oil pressure all the time now, which could add wear and cause seal failures. (There is a high/low electric oil pressure valve in the oil pump.) Yes, I know that the intake and the direct injectors have to be removed to change the pressure sensor.

I guess that the remaining question is what other than this is the actual problem? The transmission is supposed to downshift if you press the gas pedal more than just a little. Is it not acting any differently than before? Are you having trouble driving it?
