  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I own a 2015 Genesis 35k miles (bought it new and posted here before).

I have owned many Hyundai Models (SantFe (2), Azera, Genesis) and Kia Sorento.

The Genesis has had some really hazardous issues the dealer cannot figure out.

1. At a stop, turning left. Press on the gas while turning the wheel left the car stalls. Try that in heavy taffic
2. On the highway, need to change lanes quick, turn the wheel, hit the gas, crap! here comes a MAC Truck and the car stalled
3. On a curve (going left) and the road curves back the right the wheel STICKS! You have to yank it back
4. The driver seat if you recline it, it will not come back up all the way (6 repair attempts, they admitted they have no idea) so they keep resetting it.
5. Turning signal bulbs burn out once a month
6. Foul smell after the A/C runs during the summer.

All of these items I have brought the car to the dealer many times. Total time in the shop since 2015: 45 Days.

You should investigate the lemon laws for the state you live in.

Go to the dealer you are working with and demand (nicely) to see the owner of the dealership.
Tell your story about the cutting off in traffic and the steering sticking. They are safety issues.
Things will start happening.

Damn! Is this car the Korean version of Christine?

Im curious. Have you had any issues with the steering pulling the car to the right? I find that my 2016 is really starting to pull yet I just had an alignment done and the tires were re balance twice now.

Once tires are worn in an irregular manner, realignment will not usually help. You will have to do an alignment immediately after buying new tires.

I would avoid an alignment done by the spces only (typical of a dealer). I got my Genesis aligned years ago after new tires, and they first did the specs, and then did 3 test drives, adjusting the alignment after each test drive. Car has driven straight even since then. I used a suspension shop recommended by my local Costco Tire shop.

The driver's seat is the position limit sensor. I have had trouble with it. I had mine adjusted several times and then parts replaced. It is working fine now.

I have a '16 3.8 HTRAC that also sticks when turning left. There's another thread about this on the forum, but unfortunately, there appears to be no fix. Sometimes, it's really severe, and if you aren't paying close attention, it will drive the car off the road. I've had the dealer look at it several times, athey keep telling me that they can't repeat the problem. Other drivers of my car have also experienced the issue, so I know I'm not imagining it, and posts like yours validate that the issue does happen with other Genesis owners. So far, the dealer has reset the steering twice, done an alignment and sold me a set of new tires (with another alignment), but the issue continues. Aside from this clearly dangerous problem, the steering is pretty awful. In highway driving, the play is so great that it requires constant adjustment. Since this is apparently un-fixable, I am looking to dump this car for something that is actually enjoyable and safe to drive.

My most recent repair woes look like this:
1) Rough idle. Car almost dies when in D and waiting for red lights to change. Also surges forward slightly when coming to a stop.
2) Windshield wipers get "stuck" when in auto mode. Just stops in the middle of the arc. Most times I can get them moving again by manually activating them, but not all the time.
3) Rain sensing wipers SUCK. Hardly any rain and they're flapping around like crazy. Driving in a monsoon and they just sit there, doing nothing.
4) On two occasions the front speakers (doors, tweeters, dash, center channel) completely stop working altogether.
5) Traction control when pulling out from a driveway kills the engine right when I need to speed up to merge with traffic.
6) This car is SO LETHARGIC. Feels like it's always heat-soaked with massive amounts of turbo lag (I have the naturally aspirated 3.8). This sucks.

This car so SO CLOSE to being amazing. But it's not. LOL
