  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
Hi team I know this has been covered like multiple times but I’m hoping at after 7years since Genesis was released in New Zealand and Australia somebody must have found a solution to upgrade the system to allow apple car play and or fixed the lack of turn by turn in the HUD

There was a post a couple of days ago about an aftermarket solution to CP but nothing to put it in the HUD.

Even upgrading to a 2018 or newer you don't get AA or CP in the HUD.

Thanks for that, tbh I can live without AA or CP but would love to activate the turn by turn on the HUD as it seems to be an issue with the NZ/AU models that it is non functional but I can only assume it is there in the control unit but needs to be somehow activated …… I will keep searching and if I find a solution I will post

On the US models there is options in the menu for what shows in the HUD. May be worth a few minutes to play with that. Of course, they may show upside down where you are.
From the US manual:
To activate the head up display,
select "Head-up Display" on the
"User Settings Mode" in the cluster.
If you do not select "Head-up
Display", the head up display will be
deactivated.
Head Up Display Information
1. Turn By Turn (TBT) navigation
information
2. Road signs
3. Speedometer
4. Cruise setting speed
5. Advanced Smart Cruise Control
(ASCC) information
6. Lane Keeping Assist System
(LKAS) information
7. Blind Spot Detection (BSD) system
information
8.Warning lights
9. Audio/Video information

Have tried standing on my head but that did t seem to work ….. Have tried all the settings it must be an NZ/AU issue where it’s been deactivated at the ecu some how, when you look in the cluster when you scroll to the turn by turn indicator ⤴️ looks like that, it just shows a big power button symbol which I can’t seem to activate 🙁

Yep, this has been a big problem on the AU/NZ versions of the car. I'm still trying to work out how to activate Turn-By-Turn navigation and as soon as I can get the Cluster Variant codes, I might be able to fix it.

I've managed to get Lane Keep Assist working though. I'll put a solution out once I've worked out the rest of the car.

For the Americans, the AU/NZ models are missing:
- turn by turn navigation on HUD and cluster
- lane keep assist (we only have lane keep warning)
- smart parking

I didn’t know we had lane keep assist I will look forward to see just how much you can unlock, thank you

Hey, apologies for the delay.

I haven't cracked turn-by-turn yet but you can enable Lane Keep Assist with GDS and VCI. I don't think Hyundai will do it because it'll open them up to risk and liability.

You'll need a friend with GDS (Hyundai / Kia technician software) and a VCI cable (blue one, clones are about ~$400). So not really worth it unless you can get your hands on one.
  1. Launch GDS and plug in your car via VCI
  2. Load up the "LKWS/LKAS" module
  3. Go to "Variant Coding" for the module
  4. Change the region from Australia to North America
  5. Save the changes and ensure it writes to the car.
  6. Done! Lane Keep Assist works

Great post, good to know that we can open up some of the settings, if only there was an app similar to Bimmercode that would be awesome

I installed openpilot(aftermarket self driving kit) yesterday on 2015 aus ultimate g80, and it actually works! For those in aus/nz, I highly reccomend getting a comma instead, its far better than the stock system and should work for any trims of g80 in Aus/nz from 2015 or later.

Another issue I saw a while back is getting map updates. Has anyone found a solution to this without going to the dealer?

Oh nice, I've been planning on playing around with OpenPilot!

Nope, ANZ map updates are locked behind a dealer portal unlike every other Hyundai / KIA. I've tried bribing a Hyundai salesperson with $50 to just get me the map update but no dice so far

Openpilot manages to steer and brake above 60kmphr, but only braking below 60. However there is a non permanent hack called a smartmdps that tricks the car into thinking its over 60 to allow full control at any speed, unfortunately I dont have the expertise to make one myself but its supposedly pretty easy for those who understand electrical circuits. Also having openpilot brake alone is already way better than stock because it detects lead cars on tight curves whereas radar cant and has lead to dangerous cases for me.

Regarding the map, thats a big disappointment as I know US models still get regular updates.

Damn … over $2k for open pilot, think I will just steer on my own 😂😂
