In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 2015 Hyundai Azera is refreshed, may still be on life support

I remember seeing 4 cylinder Azeras. Maybe the new ones?

All Azera's use a 3.3L V6, no engine options available. It's underpowered for the class of vehicle IMO but a very well made engine none the less. It's a nice car, we had a 2009 before the updated body style and for the money it wasn't a bad choice at the time.

The newer body looks good and the interior is well appointed, feels more expensive than it is. I'm not sure though where it fits in the market anymore, fully loaded it's pricey and for only $3-5k more your in a base Genny.

I think the Azera still has it's place - but I admit it's not an easy place to be with the new Sonata being as good as it is. I really wonder what they'll do for the next Azera - if it still gets built. To me, the Sonata is the ultimate Camry (not quite a Optima EX-L, however), the Azera is a wanna-be Lexus ES, the Genesis competes well with the Lexus GS and the Equus competes with the Lexus LS. Lexus seems to do well with that strategy.

The ES is the for luxury car buyer who's not affluent enough for the LS. The GS is a great midsize option. Hyundai seems to be in the same boat.

Car buying is not necessarily linked to affluence, but more often it is linked to unaffordable debt. More often than not, the millionaires buy more mundane cars than they can afford.

I have a lease on a 2013 Azera and now have 43K miles on it. I came out of a 2011 Sonata lease prior to that. The Azera was head and shoulders above the last-gen Sonata. Way more power with the standard V-6 than the Sonata's 4-cylinders offered. Plus the interior is a pleasant place to spend your time. I noticed the new Santa Fe basically took the Azera's interior and plunked it down in an SUV. I haven't had any issues with the car other than some rattles in the door panels. The sound system is great, the leather is premium, and I get about 26 mpg average in a nearly 300 HP, heavy sedan.

That being said...there are certainly better options in the $35-40K price range now. I actually preferred the new Avalon when I signed the Azera lease, but the Avalon's lease was terrible and about $200/month more for the same price vehicle. The 2016 Maxima is about the same price and completely destroys my Azera in pretty much every aspect (interior, exterior, the way it drives).

If I were to look at the refreshed 2015 Azera vs the new Genesis, the Genesis would be a no brainer, even with the slightly higher cost. Of course, with the Azera being Hyundai's worst selling vehicle, you can probably get some pretty good discounts. I got $7K off MSRP on my lease in 2013.

I own an Azera and have compared the cadenza against it. No comparison Azera wins. The best thing the Azera has over the cadenza is the room in the trunk. The rear seats drop down in the Azera not the Cadenza. The cadenza costs about 3000 to 4000 more for what. The 2015 Azera now has almost the same options. I am looking at the genesis for around 2016 or 2017. The genesis seems to be my next car. By the way I own the 2014.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up...

Can anyone verify that the Azera has more trunk room than the Cadenza? I thought they were both identical size-wise.

What I like so much about the Cadenza is the interior appearance - mainly up front. It feels (to me) like a much more expensive car because of that...

Kia Cadenza Interior volume: 122.7 cu ft. Cargo volume: 15.9 cu ft

Hyundai Azera Interior volume: 123.3 cu ft. Cargo Volume: 16.3 cu ft

This is all for 2014 btw

Thanks! Not a HUGE difference - but a difference none the less...

The Cadenza has the more luxurious ride, a more luxurious interior and more rear passenger headroom.

The Azera has struggled in sales b/c it starts higher in price than the Avalon and has less interior room (doubly less of a value).

Really not that much difference btwn the Sonata and Azera in that respect (and the SX-L trim of the Optima has a better interior to boot); more of a difference in passenger room btwn the Genesis and Equus.

For the next gen, Hyundai needs to increase passenger space, up the luxury quotient, add the hybrid version to the US market and price it more in line with the Avalon (by offering a lower base trim).

Hyundai and Kia confuse me. We heard a year or two ago that Kia was going to be the more sporty division but the Cadenza has a more luxurious ride than the Azera. I DID expect that because the Cadenza appears to be more focused on luxury - but it's still odd.

We bought a new Azera (back in 2013) to replace our worn out Sonata. I still like engines without turbos and the more cylinders the better. Overall, the Azera is nice, but the 2013 V-6 (don't know if they've changed it for 2014-15) lacks low end torque and climbing hills makes it kick down some gears to maintain speed. Our V-8 Genesis eats hills for lunch.

I don't believe the Azera (or the XG300/350) ever used a 4 cylinder engine. The Azera uses a 293-hp 3.3L GDI 24-valve DOHC V6...

100% correct. The Azera is really a bit of a steal and has waaaay less problems than the Genny.

Now I don't care who you are....... that's funny stuff right there ^^^
