  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Okay, so here’s the problem. When I first turn on lane keep assist, it works great and keeps me bear the center of the lane. However, as time goes on, it gets pretty bad, significantly ping ponging in the lane and missing curves. So when this happens I simply turn off the system for a minute or two and then turn it back on again and it works great again for a certain period of time before repeating the cycle.
What is going on here? All of this is in pre departure mode. Anyone else noticed this with 2015 and 2016 gennys LKAS?

It's working as intended, LKAS only keeps you in the lane when you're about to or after you cross a lane line hence the ping pong. It doesn't do anything until you're closer to the line. The DH Genesis/G80 never had lane centering. Lane centering is a part of HDA and the G80 didn't get it until 2021 since the first G80 was a rebadged Hyundai car.

Are you sure about that?
My 2018 has a setting that seems to mostly keep the car centered in the lane, "Active LKA." The "Standard LKA" acts as you say and only steers when you are about to cross a lane line, but the active setting steers most of the time, like the OP is saying, except that mine does not stop working after a few minutes.

Yeah, that's how my dads 2018 G90 is. Active LKA does a decent job of keeping in the lane. However, my 2015 doesn't have Active LKA, it instead has "pre-departure mode". Whats the difference between Active LKA and pre-departure mode I wonder? Also, the 2015 has significantly worse LKA than my dads 2018 G90. The 2018 will stay in the center of the lane, while the 2015 will ping pong.

Hyundai/Genesis has a separate system that does what you describe... LFA or Lane Follow Assist, the DH didn't have this. LKAS is a safety system and LFA is a driver assist. LKAS is a reactive system, that's why it ping pongs.

Stock LKAS in my 2015 was really bad, this is how a real LKAS should work... A super enhanced driver assist for Genesis, thanks to Openpilot.
