  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recent bought a per-owned 2015 Genesis Sedan - and it's a beauty - nearly mint shape. I had to buy this one because some bozo ran a red light and totaled my great ol 2009 Genesis.

So, the only issue I have is this newer 2015 Genesis has a bum rear camera -[Part # from the camera assembly removed from car 95760-B1100]. On the in inside car screen all I get is the navigation lines (showing where the car will go - and moving with the steering wheel) - however there is no picture - only a rolling static (like the old tube TV's used to fail - for you old timers). If I disconnect the camera at the trunk lid connector - the screen just show a blue solid background.

So, I was able to get a new rear camera - same part number - but when I plugged it into the trunk wiring harness - I got the same results - no picture...? I'm wonder if anyone has run into this problem before...? Does the camera need to be 'registered' somehow with the camera module - [Park Assist Control Module]... ? Does this problem sound like a bad Park Assist Control Module [Part Number: 95770B1100]...?

Does the individual camera manufacture make a difference? Is there any type of RESET on the Contol Module... or dealer intervention required? I'm stumped on this opne - and would sure appreciate any in-sights..

Most likely the camera that was there is perfectly fine. The common problem is that the wiring harness fails where it bends as the trunk lid is opened and closed. There are several threads on this site about that.

Thank you.... I've never heard of this before - but it makes sense.... I'll go look for these threads.... (YUK ! digging into wire harnesses is one of my phobias... ) but thanks for the lead !!

OK Guys,

I checked out the rear camera wiring at the trunk lid hinge (Right Side) - per the above suggestions - and YES - I did find two broken wires (red and black - small 20 gauge wires) - I soldered them - and looked for more 'work harden' wires that might break or were questionable - in all I repaired 11 wires. But I still get the same results when I installed my new rear camera - blank screen. I'm wondering if the Park Assist Control Modue might be bad...?

Has anyone had any experience with this issue - and have they replaced this PARK ASSIST CONTROL MODULE with any success...?? This item isn't cheap - about $500, so I'd like to get a better feel about this part possibly being the issue - before I fork out $500.... (only to still have no rear camera....) Anyone have any suggestions? Any way to test the module before buying the expensive replacement... any need to possibly 'reset' the module in order to 'regester' the new camera.... any other tricks ??

All comment and suggestions are very welcome !!

Just to be clear here...
The video for the camera travels in a co-axial wire. If the inside to that wire is open, or shorts to the outside (shield), it won't work. Did you inspect/repair this co-ax wire?
