  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Good battery, all systems go. Won’t start. Key fob batteries changed, won’t start.

Suggestions? Shift lock switch? Brake switch seem operable as all 3 brake lights engage when pressed.

Checked every fuse related to ignition, starter, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Kurt

Possibly the starter. Maybe take it to an independent auto electric to test the starter

Do you have power to the dash?

Do you have power to the dash?
Yes. Power is good/strong everywhere.

I think(Hope) it is a starter or (less hopeful) it is electrical signal/Fob related

At dealership now being diagnosed. I bough the car with 98,000 miles and purchased a power plus $3000.00 extended warranty for 5ys/60000 miles. $100.00 deductible, free towing and the repair will be covered 100%.

Fingers crossed it gets resolved quickly. I miss my girl.

Random question do you think smacking the starter on these cars will get them to start if the starter goes?

It could if the problem is that the brushes are on a dead spot.

Have you verified that power is getting to the "S" terminal on the starter?

Just heard from service rep, starter is bad. $1400 repair, covered under warranty. $100 deductible 😎

What's the starter go for?

What's the starter go for?
Most of the cost is related to labor. The starter in the 2015 Genesis(5.0 models for certain) requires that the passenger side motor mount support bracket be removed from the engine to pull out the starter; which also means the passenger side exhaust manifold has to be removed as well to access the motor mount bracket bolts. Time consuming repair hence the high labor cost.

The extended warranty half paid for itself in one repair already. An extended warranty is a must for a high mileage Genesis for sure.

Sheesh ... now i'm really glad I bought the extended warranty too ...

Just picked up my Ibiza Blue 2015 Genesis 5.0 with 74k miles ... already gonna need some stuff but I have a similar extended warranty structure (5yr/75k miles for $2500 w/ $250 deductible) - Who's the warranty underwriter for yours? Pretty trouble-free getting the service done at the dealer?

Did replacing starter solved the starting issue?

Did you have to do the neutral safety switch?
Dealership handled. As far as I know, they simply installed a new starter.
