  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The trunk lid does not rise on it's own (not the automatic kind). Should it? Seems the counter balance is a little off. I can walk behind it and it will unlock but it just sits there.

From the manual, it look like it does not go up. Can be a benefit to keep rain out should it get accidently released. See No.3 from the manual
To open:
1. Make sure the shift lever is in P
(Park).
2. Then do one of the following :
- Press the Smart Key Trunk
Unlock button for more than one
second.
- Press the button on the trunk
itself with the Smart Key in your
possession.
- Use the mechanical key.
- Use the trunk release button.
3. Lift the trunk lid up.

It was the exact reason, I was kind of happy when it didn't open wide on my '15.

Hit & miss with ours. Sometimes it rose, sometimes it did not. I disabled the proximity release, so no longer matters. My fault, but twice, circumstances forced me to linger around the car after exiting & locking. I was unaware the proximity release had unlocked the trunk. After coming out of stores, I was welcomed with a trunk wide open in the parking lot.
