In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi! I am getting my windshield replaced through Safelite tomorrow and wanted to see how many folks here got their windshield replaced through them (non OEM) and I am specifically looking into opinions from people that have HUD. My windshield has a back crack thousands of tiny stone chips and wiperblade scratches that make me thing that previous owner poured sand on the windshield and used his wipers to remove it... I am kinda excited but also visited some threads with not so good results and they have gotten me thinking... Thanks!

Yes, I had the windshield replaced in out 2015 Genesis Sedan with sign/tech packages last year in September by Safelite in Orlando, Florida. The replacement was arranged and paid for by our insurance company due to broken glass caused by impact while driving. No HUD on our auto but I can say Safelite did an excellant job and I've not had a problem since. Done right the first time. They also cleaned up after themselves. I hope you will receive the same great service.

I do not know if the windsheild was OEM or aftermarket as the job was arranged by insurance. It was set up and completed in one day.

Thanks! It is good to know that. I opened up the claim through my Allstate insurance today and scheduled to drop off the car tomorrow. That is very quick and convenient. With my current coverage, the total came out to be $0 (including calibration process) so no complaints there. Just hoping that they will use a good quality windshield and do a clean job.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It's hit and miss with them. We've had nothing but issues. We've had to have our glass company probably fix a dozen or so of windshields that Safelite didn't do correctly. Personally, I would never use them. Then again, you have Allstate. For being a name brand popular insurance company, they are one of the cheapest out there. I saw them put a used subframe and suspension components in a brand new Elantra with only 3k miles.

Thanks. I will ask them to show me the replacement windshield so I can confirm that is has all the specs as fars as hud and acoutic goes.

Geico is none too swift either. They tried to put used parts on one of my Infiniti's.

I spoke with the guy over the phone and they said it will be new, from their warehouse.

I had a great experience using Safelite. I had a 2015 Ultimate with HUD etc, and Safelite replaced the window and sealed it perfectly as well as took care of whatever calibration that needed to be done afterwards. It was indistinguishable from stock.

There are 720 Safelite locations and 15,000 employees. I bet some are great, some are good, a few suck. Hope for a great one.

Just make sure you inspect the inside of your car before you get in. I used safe lite for my windshield on my Navigator. They totally did a terrible job cleanin up the glass in my interior, State Farm isn’t any better they put a used door on my 2015 Ultimate and now I can definitely hear the wind noise while highway driving

Thanks Gents! Car is in the shop right now . I asked the guy and he guaranteed that the guys will be extra cautious and make sure that they do the good job. It is warrantied so anything comes up, they will see me back again. In the meantime, I am driving a rental Chrysler 300S AWD. I like the ride quality and the smoothness of the engine!

Chrysler 300s?? I am so sorry to hear that!! You are going to really appreciate the Genny when you get her back!!@🙂

It isn't really that bad! However, I will for sure appreciate my Genny much more when I get it back. Can't wait! :)

I just picked the car up and drove it for 30 mins on the hwy. OMG, my windshield is crystal clear now! No issues so far. Two things I noticed:
1. HUD information is slightly smaller and seems like the angle has changed just a tad bit. I have no problem with that
2. I was wondering if Genesis has heater for the wiperblades and previous windshield did not show any signs of that. There were no marks on the windshield (heating component) and that area would never melt any snow. However, new windshield has it:

Now, I am curious if it is hooked up and if it really works.

It makes no difference which company installs your windshield. It is the PERSON who does the job. Safelite, for those that don't know, is the Big Boy in the fight. They outnumber and out install all the others together. But they have some employees just like every other company who are not stellar. You NEVER want a dealer service department MECHANIC tech to install glass, unless you want problems from that day forward due to lack of training and improper prep and adhesive.
Next time you see rust around the windshield of a newer model car, it is always due to windshield replacement done incorrectly. Main good thing here is if the insurance company pays for the replacement and chooses the shop to do install and you stay with that insurance company and have a problem the insurance company will step in and have the problem and resulting damage (rust) repaired at no cost to you. Try that with a GM/Ford/FCA dealer where you requested to have it installed at there location.
I have had multiple install problems in my career with incorrect installs, some as small as a half inch area where they failed to "prime" the mounting surface and allowed water to enter & rust that spot. Safelite ALWAYS stepped up, removed the windshield, payed for repairs at a collision shop and then installed a new windshield, EVERYTIME, they examined the damage and took care of it.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Let me put my 2 cents here. When I had to replace the windshield on my 2017 Santa Fe Ultimate my biggest concern was the associated systems with the windshield. The proper operations of those systems mostly mirror related (lane alarms, compass, garage door control, auto defog, etc.) So, what I did was have them replace the windshield at my Hyundai/Genesis dealer then had all the systems checked and verified by the dealer. Total cost was $87.00 I submitted the bill to the insurance company which they had agreed to pay. That’s what I would do again if I had to on either my Santa Fe or my Genesis.

I noticed that my windshield started fogging up when I parked in the garage after 33 mile drive in the rain so I thought it would be a good time to check if wiper heater works. Voila, It does! My OEM windshield never did that...

Good to hear!

Glad to hear safelite was good. I have an appointment Monday. It was for last week but I canceled when I got there and saw they were going to put in a Fuyao windshield instead of OEM Saint Gobain. Carmax is paying for it so I had to go back to them and ask for OEM. They won’t so back to Fuyao next week. I hope it doesn’t mess with lane keep and HUD.
