  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone: swapped out the gear selector handle of a 2015 with the later leather '16 or later one?
Has anyone swapped out the display to a newer one with the cross traffic and sharp turn warnings in the main display as opposed to the instrument cluster?

Yes, there is a thread about this a few months ago you may want to search for. I was able to swap the 2015 handle for a 2018 handle but it was not cheap. The whole operation took about three hours and cost nearly $20,000. I got away that cheap only because I was able to sell the old handle to the dealer for a good price.

I guess the handle came with a new car?
So I probably shouldn't bother searching for a thread either eh?

I know it was tried. Going from memory one of the guys even had a dealer teck look at it. There was a difference in the attachment.

Not possible unfortunately. I bought the newer style shifter and my local Hyundai dealer tried to swap but it’s not compatible. The issue is the placement of the lever on the handle to initiate a gear shift between the two designs

So I got a new loaner Sonata. It has a pleather selector with a gun trigger like the ‘15. Wonder if that would work. I (now remembering) the later model Gs have the side / thumb button.

It looks like it might be possible to add the manual(non-electronic) T-shifter from a 2018 G80 to a 2015 model if you buy the matching G80 boot also, so the shifter will fit the correct way. The shift boot guide rings are different on the 2015 models which will have the shifter facing the wrong way.

Just speculation after checking out some pictures of the 2018 T-shifter online and comparing them to my 2015 old shifter and boot I have laying around.

Looking at pictures for comparison it seem like it could work also if you buy the matching 2018 Sonata shift boot as well. The 2015 shift boot ring is facing the wrong way.

Key word is maybe.

It's not possible. The newer T-shifter is electronic linkage. The 2015 is a hard cable linkage.
