If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 2015 V8 Genesis Transmission Problem

I have a 2015 V8 Genesis with less than 2,000 miles. When aggressively accelerating, the shift seems to stall then buck. It has happened between several gears. The dealer, working with Hyundai determined the problem to be a fuel line. After a complete fuel line replacement the problem did not go away and the dealer still has the car.

Has anyone had a similar problem? This seems like a transmission problem.

Thanks!

I had the exact same problem and they said it was the fuel line also. They changed the fuel line, and it fixed the problem, but now it is back again. It is very abrupt buck when shifting in the high RPM range. It is not a fuel issue, or if it is a fuel issue it may be due to the computer sensing high RPMs and shutting off fuel just for a slight second and then it is bucks, then drops RPMs. I think it is a transmission module ... let me read more. This needs to be fixed since my brothers 2015 5.0 is doing the same thing as mine --- he did not want to deal with it, so he traded his 2015 Genesis in on a 2014 Mercedes Benz. I need the Genesis seat with power side bolster for spinal/medical reasons. The Genesis is a great car, but I am starting to lose confidence in it .... just had to have a new battery put in it ..... assume due to FOB being to close to car and communicating with it???? Ummmm!!!!

OK, from the forum I assume the shifting at aggressive acceleration is the problem as it is with mine and mine was fixed previously, but as per the forum here the replacement fuel lines can be defective also.

Now I need to contact the dealer on my 2015 5.0 with 19,555 miles on it. FYI - dealer had the car for over a week to replace battery, and do the tire recall. Battery was bad -- had a bad cell, so they replaced it free since it was only out of warranty by 2 months (I've owned the car since July 2014). They have been a really great dealership, and great service rep. Let me see how this second transmission deal goes. Will report back. Thanks uglytuna for your posts here.

Overall it's a great car. Hyundai/Genesis (they're spinning it out) needs to work on their customer relations if they seriously want to compete with the big boys. Communication is the key and swapping a battery and tires should be a 1/2 day process at most.
Consider escalating to Hyundai and if issues continue, i.e. fuel line, consider filing a lemon report per the guidelines in your state. I'm still convinced that filing mine is what finally brought me resolution.

Mine is still issue free but I do understand that replacement lines have also gone bad. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Good lock and keep us posted!

Toyota tapped Aisin for the 8-speed in the LS. Hyundai made its own 8-speed.
Aisin was originally created as a joint venture between Toyota and Borg-Warner to produce RWD transmissions for its Lexus brand and to sell to other manufacturers. Since then, Aisin has grown in scope beyond just transmissions, so Toyota's ownership of Aisin has been diluted below its original 50%.

The 2009-2011 Genesis sedan V6 used the Aisin 6-speed transmission, which has been very reliable based on forum member comments.

Mark - Thanks for the information.

I believe in my case that the problem was the fuel line, not the transmission, as the line replacements fixed the issue. Had it been the transmission, my issue would not have been resolved by replacing the fuel lines.

At this time my issue remains resolved and I am enjoying my Genesis.

Good news! My car is fixed and appears to be issue-free. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I really do like the car.

The service manager told me that about a month ago when the repair started they only changed 2 of the fuel lines. This is in direct contrast to what the service rep told me - he specifically told me there are 3 part numbers comprising 4 lines and Hyundai had recommended all three be replaced. Apparently there is an interior portion of the line that can close a bit - for me it was only noticeable when aggressively accelerating.

A month ago I was told they performed the service and the problem persisted after the recommended work was completed.

I'm not sure where the ball got dropped but basically my car sat at the dealer for something that should have been a half-day repair. The lack of communication led me to file a lemon report with Hyundai and that might have brought focus to my problem.

If anyone else has this problem I would strongly recommend that you be very specific about all the fuel lines being replaced. Others on this forum have stated that their problem was resolved with the lines being changed.
No chance that you have part numbers on those lines do you? I have hard shifting and misfire in my 2015.

Thank you
