  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 vs. 2018 17-speaker Lexicon?

The change actually came with the 2012 models. So the quotes above are almost correct, but the changes to the original 2009-2011 system came with the 2012 models, not the 2015 models. In short, the 2015 models had the same stereo as 2012,2013, and 2014. The 2011 was the last year of the slightly better sounding, but less reliable sound system.

If unsure, go back through the old Lexicon sound system threads comparing the 2011 model to the 2012 refresh (I had bought a 2012 new myself).

old thread I know, but just adding thoughts as I scroll through the threads after upgrading from a 2009 4.6 to a 2019 G80. IMO the sound in the 2009 holds an edge to what I've experienced thus far in the 2019. Have been using the surround options and I think they add some tinniness to the sound, but maybe I just need to get used to it or turn off any surround option altogether

This thread compares 2015 vs 2018+ but doesn't reference 2016 and 2017. Can someone confirm if the bass is lacking in the '16 and 17's, as well?

I have an 18 G80 5.0 ultimate. On the road trip home, I had 4 CD's for pure sound test: Acoustic Alchemy, Miles Davis, Led Zepplin Remastered and AC/DC Iron Man Soundtrack. Played with the control and the system sounded great - maybe better than my Denali.

I updated the nav to 13.5. I want to say that I had more bass before update. Also seemed like that I had more volume before update?

Is it just me? I find the sound on my 18 G80 5.0 really bad.

Compared to the B&O sound system in my previous car, an Audi, the Genesis system is, with all due respect, a joke.

There is no low end and weak mid-low. The is no stage, no presence, no "volume". It is a VERY weak sound system.

I did find the low end bass weak but after adding a subwoofer, the sound is absolutely incredible and I hate the sound when I sit in my wife's Sonata or my friend's Accord. Maybe it's because I don't have an Audi to compare to.

Has anyone here attempted to upgrade their '18 speakers and can share their experience?

Asking because there's a vocal sibilance issue with the 2018+ where there's a tonal harshness to their sound (especially noticeable with vocals in talk radio). See this thread. It doesn't seem fixable. :(

I have the 2015 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 with the Lexicon system and it only came with 14 speakers in the non ultimate package. If the Nav screen is touch only, the system has a standard 8-inch screen and14 speakers! Touch and center control wheel has the ultimate package with 17 speakers a 9.2-inch display and at least 700 watts of total power. The sound and bass is tremendous in the 17 speaker ultimate package.
