Car has about 42k miles on it and just got back from the dealer after having the awd transfer case replaced under warranty. They did an oil change and "multi point inspection" but a few days later the temp dipped here in Maryland and I realized I had no heat in the car after about 15 minutes of driving and at normal operating temp for several minutes. Just cold air. Then next thing I knew the dash is lit up red flashing and yelling at me the engine had overheated! I was only about a mile from my house so after a cool down I have it back home with no issue. Checked the overflow which was low but barely, and I mean nothing significant at all. Didn't notice any leaks anywhere either but I could smell faint coolant. I topped it off which took a few ounces maybe and a could days later same thing. Intermittent heat and overheated. Checked and it still had plenty of coolant at the normal level. Going to dealer in the morning but wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar? I've been a mechanic for most of my life so I'm thinking some sort of air pocket in the system or maybe a stuck thermostat? No wet spots inside the car or puddles outside under car. But I just bought this car about a month ago so I'm still learning about it. Luckily it's in warranty so I'm not too concerned since its the dealer problem really lol. Thanks!
