  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Alright so I'm finally fed up with my windshield wipers lol.

They have never worked since I bought the car in 2019 when in the auto position. They work just fine in the manual low and high position.

When in the auto position they do the test wipe like they should but on any sensitivity setting my windshield can be completely covered with rain and still go 10-15 seconds before a wipe

I've heard the sensor also controls the auto headlights - my headlights operate flawlessly.

I can tell the windshield was replaced before I got the car because it's a PGW sticker in the corner not a Hyundai logo, and I believe that's the culprit but I'm wondering if anyone else has changed their windshield and still has working auto rain sensing wipers?

Are there any experts on here with any ideas on some things I could check for both at my sensor or the windshield? I'm not afraid to try something myself.

I do not have a windshield tint.
My LKA works fine. Thanks in advance!

I think that the connection to the glass has to be really good for the rain sensing to work correctly, but it doesn't have to be that good for the light sensing (for the headlights) to work well.
We had the windshield on our 2015 Cadenza replaced with aftermarket. The rain sensing has worked just as well after that as it did before with the factory glass. (I am fairly impressed with how well it works on both our Cadenza and our G80.)
I haven't seen this in the Genesis manuals, but I have seen a warning in the manual for another brand to not use rainX on the windshield as it would interfere with the rain sensing. I think this would apply to anything that made the water run off too quickly.

My 2015 auto wipers have never worked correctly since we bought it in 2017. I replaced windshield in 2020 and same issue.

It can be pouring or a very steady light rain and the wipers don't move and I have to force them on. Then other times there will be 3 raindrops on the windshield and auto wipe kicks on. It never has reliably come on correctly so I feel your pain.

I feel your pain as well.... Only time Auto Wipe reliably works for me is when they are accidentally on when I go through a Car Wash!

Is anyone aware of a guide for removing the mirror assembly so I can take a look at it? I would hate to break something. If I can figure out a solution I'll come back and share

I don't think you have to remove the mirror to get to the rain sensor, just the cover behind the mirror.

Remove the small cover over the mirror.

Then remove the rest of the cover

"A" is the connector to the rain sensor.

To remove the sensor, use a small screwdriver to unlatch the sensor.

This shows the sensor removed, and what stays on the windshield.

You're the best I'll try it tomorrow as I'm driving today

When I had Safelite replace my windshield a few years ago they reused the original rain sensor which worked intermittently.
The rain sensor worked perfectly before the windshield replacement.
Safelite replaced the OEM rain sensor and everything functioned perfectly.
The glass tech mentioned that there not always successful with removing and then reinstalling the original rain sensors.
