If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi guys, i've been looking at the genesis for quite some time now. I have been waiting for the g80 sport but looks like its going to cost 70k CAD for it - not cool... There is a nice 16 V8 ultimate near me with 13000kms. Seriously considering the vehicle but its selling for mid 50s..what do you guys think?

Hows the 2016 models in terms of reliability? There are a ton of 2015 selling for cheap but due to the recalls and issues people have, i would rather avoid it.

I would think that the 2016's would perhaps be slightly better than the first-year-of-the-redesign 2015's. I've had my 2015 non-ultimate 5.0 for a bit over a year now. It was a leftover new car that got excellent E-plan pricing at $38450 USD. About 11k miles on the odo. The only thing it's been to the shop for other than oil changes was a wire to the USB port they missed connecting at the factory. Warranty-covered fix took about an hour. I've not gotten any recall notices.

I'm still greatly enjoying mine and often get comments (all favorable) or "Who makes that? It's gorgeous!". I also can't help but smile whenever I pull alongside a similar-sized BMW or Mercedes.

Wow...price seems high, imho. Now, I do not know what kind of inventory and dealer competition is in Canada; so pls take my inputs based on the US market.

BTW, I did exactly what PinkFloyd did, wrt a new 2015, 5.0 (non-ultimate), for about $40K e-pricing; and have been happy with the car...only dealer service visits for oil changes (now have 21K miles on it).

The Canadian 5.0 has more equipment and is automatically AWD not to mention only available in ultimate or fully featured trim compared to the US . That being said, I have been offered $38,000 (2016) as a trade in and we all know how dealers low ball this figure. In Canada this vehicle should go for around the $40,000 mark or better IMHO. The 5.0 in Canada went for close to the $60,000 mark (62,000 list) and then there are the little goodies one adds, destination charges and the $6,000+ in taxes which pushes this car close to the $70,000 mark out the door.

As for recalls and issues, my 2015 had but 1 small issue with the tail lamp needing better sealing addressed through a recall. I have had other items go wrong but nothing the service department could not handle although it was a painful experience with MY dealer which is in the past since I changed dealers. According to Consumer Reports, the 2016, model is the one with more issues but then again I really wonder who that could be true. None the less, it is a reputable organization and 90% of the people swear by their findings.

One thing I did learn is the 5.0 here in Canada is a rather rare beast and does hold it's value much better than the V6 equipped version. My findings are you get the money back in the difference initially paid to get the V8 version and then some. Checked Auto trader and there is only 1 2015/16 5.0 being sold privately available in Canada asking $41,000.

I would take a hard look at that 2016 if I were you. Price can be negotiated. Keep in mind the Genesis is listed as a great value on the used market since it came in #1 for fastest depreciating vehicles. See here https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...ghtly-owned-used-cars/?utm_term=.44364614bc43

Wow they did a 2016 V8 in Canada? They didn't do one in the US.

Hi, I have a 2015 Genesis, 5.0 AWD, traded in my 2006 Cadillac DTS and what a difference. Just love the Genesis with all its safety features and smooth ride. Yes there were 4 recalls but pleased to say Hyundai stood behind there product and upgraded everything. Even the tire recall 4 brand new tires after i had driven 10,000km on the original Hancock tires. I bought the car on style, safety features, ride and price. I drive the car every day so those points were more important to me than the resale after 5 years. Extremely happy with the car. good luck

Thanks guys. Pricing of it will be a huge deciding factor...

What were the 4 recalls?

Or is it worth going to the 2015 and save another 10k? The 2016 is rare in canada so not too many dealers are willing to negotiate. Are there lots of issues with the 2015 model?

No issues at all with my 2015 Canadian V8. Hyundai, by mating the AWD to the V8 makes this vehicle absolutely awesome - especially for our often less than stellar weather driving days!

There were no US V8s in 2016....
