  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2016 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Ultimate Trim - Apple CarPlay

I agree with most of your points.

dealership Will claim there is “no cooling off” period (I.e. customer regrets purchase and wants to return) or some such nonsense

it is not just a claim it is likely a fact (but I don’t know where the OP lives). So I don’t think it’s nonsense.

I see it as a losing battle, I think misrepresentation or “fraud” is going to be a nard sell to a court or arbitrator, the response is going to be “does it effect the safety or drivability if the vehicle?“ No, so sorry about your luck. Just the pessimist in me and my experience of working for dealerships and auto manufacturers Corp offices..
I agree 99%. Even if he gets nothing, if Genesis finds out they have a bad dealer and does something about it, there will be winners. One incident means little but if they get many more, maybe some action. Or maybe not.

true, in CA they changed the law a few years back giving you the right to buy a cooling off period “warranty” for 2 days I think, on used vehicles. Most dealers now offer it without a separate charge, they build the charge into the vehicle price and offer it on all used vehicles.

For probably 99.9% of us, that feature is no biggie and easy to dismiss as trivial. But for you, Robert, your situation dictates it almost a necessity and it appears to be a factor you based your purchase decision on, something the dealership took lightly and simply told you what you wanted to hear.

As my lawyer told me, many of these unscrupulous dealerships (and there are many) bank on us consumers to not "go after" them. Especially when you deal with one out of the area, as I did. Hopefully, your lawyer will see some merit in putting the screws to them to get you some relief, although that won't fix the problem unless you're able to switch vehicles.

We'll be waiting to hear what happens.

Not true, I have a 2015 5.0 Ultimate and I really miss the Carplay functionality. I suspect that there are many people that are super pissed about Hyundai deciding to never provide these people with an alternative.

They may be pissed but it was not a simple decision of yes or no. The way technology moves on non-compatible platforms, sometimes they just won't work together. Carplay did not exist when the head unit for the Ultimate was finalized. I imagine some people are pissed they can't play their 8 track tapes too.
