  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've been looking at the 2016 Magnaflow Genesis G80 5.0 Exhaust. Is this exhaust compatible with the 2017/18? I've looked at the hangers and bends side by side and I can't see any real difference. Is anyone certain of it's fitting for the 2017/18 model year? The manufacturer said they haven't had a chance to fit one up to see if it actually works and is of a low priority at the moment. Just wondering for my personal interest. I can't really find any direct information regarding fitting. I don't know if anyone has tried to fit one up to either at this point.

Please, this is posted for a relevant discussion regarding the exhaust fitting only. Please stay on topic and offer any thoughts directly towards it's fitting.

What do you think?

Probably the same forward of the rear outlet. But, do compare rear outlets. Off subject, but do you know that Magnaflow exhaust systems "drone"?

Know I sure don't, never heard one have you in person? The rear outlets are bolt on but that doesn't mean the slip fit won't work. Keep in mind your removing the entire exhaust from the cats back and substituting a clamp assembly.

I called Magnaflow a couple of years ago about the system for my '15 5.0 and asked how the drone was....they said it was...ahem..."minimal". Uh, yeah...

I have never heard of anyone that has actually installed it to give their opinion and I was not about to drop the cash they want for it without knowing.

It seems many over the years have tried to get a mean yet quiet system for the V8 and nobody has really succeeded. The most common answer you get these days is "install cutouts".

I wish you the best of luck and hope it sounds great! I had a system on my Chevy 1500 years back and it sounded like a beast when you got into it...but just cruising on down the highway...ugghhh.

I’ve had a couple magnaflow exhausts, one on a supercharged C5 and another on an older CTSV and I really like them. To me they sound somewhat mean, but not crazy loud. I have a corsa on my C7 and it’s more distinct but I think if I ever do an exhaust in the G80 it will be a magnaflow.

I have the Magnaflow system on my 2015 5.0 which I installed a couple months ago. I can't comment on how the fit is on newer models but as for drone, there is none. I was worried there would be after reading others comments but to me it is just right. At highway speed there is minimal noise and around town it is just right. I noticed that the Magnaflow resonator assembly is a bit wider than stock and can easily come into contact with the body shell. You have to have your install just right to have clearance. I suspect that some folks may have had their system come into contact with the floor pan and I would bet that noise would be mistaken for drone when it is in fact resonance resulting from the contact.
I would recommend the Magnaflow system. It seems well built and was easy to install.

Magnaflow on V8's are probably one of the mildest upgraded systems you can install on any car. The mufflers usually are made so that they flow better but are packed so that it absorbs most noise except when you really get on it. At idle, it might rumble a "touch" and I mean a "touch" more, and normal driving it will be pretty civil, and when you get on it, it will let people know you mean business but it isn't too rash or loud where you regret getting a new system. On a lot of American cars with V8s, Magnaflows are often too quiet for most people who are looking for loud exhausts, and often are pretty tame compared to most other exhausts. Some are also able to be "tuned" so that you can adjust the tone and or not to be too "droning" on cruises, by having a resonator put somewhere midstream.
