  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New here, my first post. My 2016 Genesis has steering wheel vibration even after a Road Force Balance, Four wheel alignment and tire rotation. It is only at highway speeds, 60 mph and above. Dealer can't find anything wrong and tells me this is normal! Please help.
Thanks,
SeabeeJack

My '15 had a vibration at freeway speeds that was a very high speed buzzing. It went away when I loaded it up in a corner. I had the dealership take a look and they rebalanced the tires, and while it was better, it didn't quite go away. I then got a non-reparable flat and switched out the Conti's for Michelins. And the vibration was still there! I had my shop balance it yet again and lo and behold it was gone. For some reason I think these cars are really sensitive to the wheel weights. Take it to a real tire shop and have them balance it...

When I purchased mine new in March '16, I had several problems. One being the vibration. The dealer couldn't resolve the issue and I took the car to an independent shop and they determined two of the tires were out of round. Michelin agreed to give me a credit and I paid for two new Michelin tires and two were free. The issue improved considerably, but I still sense some slight vibration at freeway speed. In fact I can see the edge of the hood (closest to the driver) vibrating.

Got the same problem on a Genesis 3.8. Had the car in for a service and they rotated the 19" Tyres(tires). Initially there was a noticeable vibration at 100k (60mph) but it started getting worse and worse. On checking the pressure screen all the Tyres were inflated to 180kpa! (Maximum tyre rating). (Should normally be 135-140kpa) I lowered them to cold spec but I think some damage may have been done. Worse thing is this was just before Xmas so now the shop is closed. In retrospect I should have told them to leave the Tyres alone. I have to go away on the 7th and have to muck around getting it fixed now.

I have an update. I had to take the car to a tyre shop as the vibration had turned to shuddering. The result: back right inside tyre wall had a delamination the whole circumference of tyre which resulted in a balloon like bubble all the way around the outer edge of the inside wall. It was also apparent inside the actual tyre. It was like a whole section of the inside tyre wall delaminated and filled with air. The tyre guys said it could have been caused during the tyre rotation but may have been a defect. 700 au$ later 2 new rear tyres. The pity being the back tyres had only used 3/4 of their life. Live and learn. I can't help thinking if they left the tyres alone I would have got another year or two out of them. For me, I will never rotate tyres again.
