  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2017 G80 badging now available on eBay

There are probably one or two other subtle changes. I haven't seen a G80 up close at night but, someone said the puddle lights only have the wing outline and no longer has the word GENESIS.

I'm not in a position to dig up the url right now, but I made a post in the G80 roll call thread that included a picture of the updated puddle lights. It is wings only.

Due to the seriousness of this issue, it will be taken up by the United Nations Security Council first thing Monday morning.

It is certainly as serious as a heart attack, or maybe a rattlesnake bite, but I would keep it in the forums until the 2018 model arrives. Just a suggestion.

I changed mine because it made no sense having a Genesis wing (which I assume the dealer replaced) plus Genesis name on the bottom. The car was obviously designed to be a Genesis brand car considering the Genesis badges all over. Its not like I'm putting an f150 badge on my ranger, these are the same cars. No one that has ask me about my car knows what a Hyundai Genesis is anyway, so the badging doesnt matter. How may people would see my 2015 parked next to a 2017 G80 and be able to tell the difference.

True that.

I agree with both of ya ^^^

Didn't you change out your trunk H for a Genesis wing, Dareck? :) :D

And then there are guys like me that debadged the car but like the newer wings...

Still have your old ones? I'll take em. I actually prefer the 15/16 wings with the sharp, smooth, angular look. I saw the textured & reliefed surface of the new wings up close on the G90 I took pictures of the other day and I just do not like it. In fact - I will probably put smooth wings on my G90 when I get it if they haven't fixed the problem by then. :)

I keep falling back on it making more sense to find a low miles 2015 5.0 Ultimate for around $40k.

You should be able to get it for considerably less than that. That's what I paid over a year ago for an Ultimate 2015 CPO.

no Hyundai Genesis purchased in the USA ever came with wings on the trunk lid.

This.

Although, I did notice ALL the courtesy Genesis' at the HMMA plant in Montgomery have wings on the back to replace the Hyundai logo.

Those were probably pre-prod 17's.

I like the look of the new wings and will most likely change my old wings out one day.

I'll take your 15/16 wings too, then. :)

Well, with all due respect I disagree. Removing a Hyundai badge and replacing it with wings is one thing. You're simply putting the same Genesis badge on the trunk that is already on the hood. You're not claiming the car is anything other than what it is. However, putting a G80 badge on a car that isn't a G80 doesn't make sense to me. You're trying to pass of your car as something it isn't? Why?

I would agree with you except for one glaring fact:

It is the exact same car, bolt for bolt.

If it was not for that very significant fact - I could see the argument of people "trying to make the car something it isn't." Because in reality - it actually is.

How may people would see my 2015 parked next to a 2017 G80 and be able to tell the difference.

Nobody, until they saw the DRLs.

BTW - I will not be adding G80 to my 15. I like the prominence of the "Genesis" lettering. :)

What is different between the two cars? From what I can tell, it's literally just the badging, including steering wheel wings. Then of course the maintenance program they are including with the G80..

My previous sedan, I had de-badged the back, less the wings and then added the wings to the hood.

I would rather have the wings, G80, and 5.0 from the 2017 on the back of a 2015 if I buy one.

This is why I have zero issue with it. It's not like they're putting an M3 badge on a 328. I would usually jump all over people for stuff like this, thinking they were a poser or whatever but literally there's no difference in the cars. Who cares.

Then again, I always remove everything but the brand, I hate having the cheap/metallic plastic crap all over the rear end.

If you own/lease the vehicle, do whatever you want - you can even put an M3/M5 or AMG badge on it. Why? Because you paid for it, you do what you want.

My friend put a TDI badge (240 HP) on his Audi S8 (520 HP - he removed the references to the S8 from anywhere on the outside of the vehicle). He says he wishes he could see the look on the faces of the people in muscle cars and M3/AMG drivers when he smokes them (juvenile, but he keeps it within the speed limit he says).

Think the 2016 and 2017 G80 are almost the same identical car.
