  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yes the title sounds pretty stupid but I had to get this out. I bought this truck without even a test drive and was simply amazed at the ride quality, seat comfort, and quietness after I took possession.

I kid you not, this truck is as comfortable as a Genesis in all respects which I have been telling everyone I know. Drives like car and is equipped as well as an ultimate in full dress with exception to HUD and auto parking brake. Then again it has a bunch of stuff the Genesis does not have. You cannot really call it a truck, I would say a SUV with a convenient box on the back more suits it.

Reason I posted this is another member here told me he tried his friends Ridgeline and asked me if he was imagining things or if it rides as nice as his Genesis 3.8. The answer is it is not his imagination.

The new Ridgeline is based on the Honda Pilot SUV, although the Ridgeline has a much longer wheelbase (125 inches vs 111). The Pilot is very similar to the Acura MDX SUV.

You bought a vehicle without even test driving it? What on earth possessed you to do that?

The Nissan Titan was a piece of crap and was long overdue for a trade in. I have Fords and Rams at the office so what else is there I ask you. Needed a practical hauler without the Macho truck image. Something you don't need a ladder or running boards to get in to. Something that you can actually park in a normal shopping center space. 4WD is terrible if you ask me and my preference is for AWD which is there when you need it, basically seamless. I do not rock climb or go off road so what is the point I ask you. Went to the dealership after the Titan transmission went south, loved everything about it and bought it immediately. Boy was I surprised when I drove it a few weeks later.

Little things that make a real true life every day difference such as walk away locking and touch handle unlocking. A factory remote start that automatically sets the temp to 72, fires up the heated seat and steering wheel depending on exterior temps and obviously cools in warmer conditions. 3 usb ports, even in the rear. 3 zone climate control with complete separate system in the rear which is lockable by the driver. Heated rear seats, acoustic windshield, auto wipers and lights. Mud, sand and snow mode. Apple car play. I could go one forever but you get the picture. Cannot believe this is a Honda.

Rated to tow 5000 lb. and carry 1500. More than I will ever need.

Unfortunately in the US they once again left out a bunch of nice stuff exclusive the Canadian model.

- Heated windshield wiper area
- Ventilated front seats
- Power folding mirrors
- Rear climate control panel
- Heated rear seats
- CD player (accessory for US models)
- Rain sensing wipers
- Dual note horns
- Turn signals in the mirrors
- Splash guards (accessory for US models)

I noticed from a recent Motor Week (TV show), that Nissan has a brand new Titan shipping now.

The Honda Accord is also quite a nice vehicle. I've been hearing that the Ridgeline is probably the most comfortable truck on the market. So this confirms what I heard.

Problem is I had so many issues with their truck I will never go back to them however I have no issue with their cars and secondly it is to truck like. ;)

Yes, the Titan is a real truck (body-on-frame) that can tow up to Up to 12,640 lbs. with the 5.0-L Cummins V8 Turbo Diesel, as opposed to a SUV (unibody construction). As you mentioned, the Ridgeline is really a stretched SUV (Honda Pilot) with a bed instead of enclosed rear end.

In a bit of irony I secretly snicker every time I see the advertising in bold letters on the side of the Titan: "V8 Titan", while at the same time admiring the V8 emblem on the side of my Genesis. Life is meant to be humorous.

The reality is this is what is actually needed by 80% of all pickup drivers in North America. ;)

I had a base 2008/9 Honda Ridgeline at one point. I liked the hidden bed in the back for additional storage. Was a nice truck, got the job done when I needed it. However, I came to find out that a truck was not for me. Plus, tons of people were like, "why didn't you buy a Tacoma, Ram, Silverado" etc., your "typical" trucks. Also, had an issue with the steering alignment that the dealer couldn't fix even after multiple visits.

Maybe you would like the new Ridgeline, but it is completely different than your older model. It is basically a stretched Honda Pilot SUV with a bed. It is not built on a truck platform.

But if you like it, who cares what other people say?

You mean, a sedan (like a Genesis)? After all, how often do city dwellers have to haul sacks of manure? :D

I believe he means that of the people who actually need a pickup to haul things, 80% of them only need one like a Honda Ridgeline (which is built on a car-like uni-body platform) with modest towing and load capacity, rather than a "real" truck that is built with body-on-frame construction with much higher towing and load capacity.

More like Scott towels and toilet paper from Costco. :D

I fail to understand the point of this discussion. Are we suppose to buy a pick up truck in lieu of a sedan? Granted the Ridgeline is a great vehicle, but the BMW I8 sports car is also amazing in every way too. If the goal is to discuss cars in general, Autoblog.com has already beaten us to it.

Yes, it is a bit off-topic. Midnightsun was able to sneak it in by saying the Honda Ridgeline is "as comfortable as a Genesis in all respects." Not bad for a pickup (or the Honda Pilot SUV which is very similar to the Ridgeline).

I was simply pointing out how comfortable and quiet a pickup truck can be. Something I can relate to as well as others on this forum and in this section is the Genesis sedan. Being the Genesis is my daily driver, I can tell you it is as quiet and as comfortable as what we drive. 0-60 figures are 6.6 so it puts in the the V6 category of the Genesis. Point is I drive a Genesis and was amazed at how a pickup truck can be this good. It is more comfortable and more quiet than the Gen 1 Genesis.

I will be holding out for the Genesis SUV as I have posted before however it better ride as good as this. The bar is definitely high. As for the Pilot comments, yes it is based on the Pilot although there is a lot of beefing up for the truck version. What I have read so far, the Pickup is more comfortable than the Pilot

I don't really care about what people say of my choice in cars lol. I have had cars of all types, versus one brand loyal like most people I associate with. I wanted a V6 truck that gets better gas mileage than a V8 "typical" truck but didn't want to pay too much for a Tacoma. Then the Ridgeline came into my life, for a few months.

I sat in the new Ridgeline this morning, was at a Honda dealer for some airbag recall for the wifeys Accord. It's nice but just not my kind of vehicle.

I couldn't help but notice that during the whole time at Honda, the salesmen standing outside were just gawking at our Genesis (took two cars). As soon as I walked out, they all stared at me and asked what it was, what's the power, is it luxurious inside, everything. I fired the car up, they thought that I did a motor swap with a Corvette. It was interesting. If I wanted a truck again, the Ford Raptor comes to mind.

Then again, totally different cars and weird topic of discussion...my 2c.
