  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings. No issue as of late but wanted to ask what type of battery is required when time comes to replace it. I just bought a 2019 G70 Advance 3.3 and was poking around to get some info for the inevitable day, cant seem to find anything pertinent regarding a good replacement part. General search does not bring up much info although I found a video of how to actually change one. Also I am seeing the need to have the head unit reset after a change? Anyway, any info would be appreciated! love the car btw

I'm confused. If you to to any of the auto parts web sites you plug in the model and it tell you what you need. Some do not list the G70. Looked at interstate, Batteries Plus, NAPA with no luck. Should be that simple

The manual should tell you the size and number though.

When the battery is changed they plug in a power source and nothing has to be reset, no setting lost. I had my G80 replaced by Advance Auto and took about 15 minutes. It is over 60 pounds so these days, better they should do it.

G70 takes either H7 or H8 batteries. H9 would probably fit as well, but rather overkill. Good for those who live up north and could use the extra weight over the rear axle and the extra CCA and reserve capacity at very low outdoor temp. They all have the same width x height. Only the length varies between H7/8/9.

Your local auto parts store for sure carry batteries that will fit, but they don't always list them by the DIN sizes. Here in the US, BCI Group numbers are more common. The crossover references:

H7 - 94R
H8 - 49
H9 - 95R

Being in the relatively cool trunk, batteries tend to last a whole lot longer than being cooked to death up front in the engine compartment. I had an Autozone Duraplus Platinum that lasted 8+yrs in my '09 Genesis sedan. So, if you plan on keeping your car for while, get a good AGM.

Whichever batt you choose, do yourself a favor and get a battery load tester. Use it to test all your automotive batteries periodically. If a batt show signs of weakness, change it out before it causes other problems in your vehicle or, worse, stranding you at the worst possible time. You can get one for $20: 100A 6/12V Battery Load Tester

And, no need to reset anything. I've disconnected the battery in the G70 plenty of times. No problems.

Thanks for the replies and the info.. Really appreciate it

I was considering the Interstate MTX-95R/H9 but it appears to be too big in the long dimension. What is in my car now is about 12-1/2" wide, but there is an empty bracket mounting hole about 1-1/2" away which would allow a battery to be 14" max wide. The Interstate MTX-95R/H9 is 15-9/16" and will not fit unless I am missing something. I also have a 2019 G70 3.3T AWD Advanced.

What about an ODYSSEY Performance AGM #49-950? It's an H8 size.

I replaced my battery over the weekend. It was original in my 2019 so I decided I'd replace now instead of waiting for it to die. I bought the AGM H8 battery from Walmart for $180 plus tax. Four year warranty. The new battery is bigger than the original so I'm guessing the original is H7 (I have the 3.3TT). I connected a charger under the hood to maintain 12v to avoid losing any settings. The + terminal is under the fuse box cover which did not come out easily and in fact broke. I'm not sure what that design is all about.

In the trunk you must remove the carpet and spare tire. Then you must remove a steel bracket that the spare tire sits on. It's a straight forward battery change at that point. I think I used 10mm and 12mm sockets. Long extensions are helpful.

That's what I just put in my G70. Fits perfectly. The battery is easy to replace. Four 12mm nuts (green) and three 10mm nuts (purple) in the attached picture.

Purchased it at FCP Euro for $303.47 shipped. They provide a lifetime warranty on all their batteries.

If you've never changed your G70 battery, take a look at this video. You may need to reprogram your power trunk.

Thanks for the great advice. I replaced my 2019 G70 battery with a H8 Energizer from Costco with a 100 month prorated warranty.

I agree the socket long extensions saved me a lot of time.

Thank you so much, this really helps. I'm about to change my battery now

Is it better to find a Bayer myself or to just go to the dealership
