  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2019 G70 obsolete?!

I just got my Genesis 3.3 sport (black on black), before ordering this, I went to test drive the S5 sportback, not keeping the price in mind, I went with an open mind. After test driving both, genesis came up on top and not just the drive, the cabin feel the overall features. In order to get all the features that are the g70, ur looking at upwards of 80k (taxes in). That's a huge difference. I know the new 3 series is coming out, it's a beautiful car no doubt but price is still going to far off from the G70, even if the price is the same as the current generation 3 series (which I doubt it will be). I have had people stop and take pics of my car twice and I just got this yesterday.
With people saying, the new 3 series having more options, your paying more for it as well but that's for any vehicle, more money, will have small options that will be attractive to few customers.

say what you may. . . . but Genesis fudged this roll out. for any Genesis decision makers watching this thread " YOU SCREWED UP BIG TIME"

There is a fresh sentiment!
No saying it’s not true, just that it’s not news.

??? A fully loaded S5 Sportback is nowhere near "upwards of 80K". MSRP is ~$69K and you can easily get 8% off of that, so all in with taxes you are still around $69K (expensive - but no where near $80K)..

I went to look at one. I was sitting at 81,000$. I didnt negotiate or anything. I just went and got the price to compare it, that was it

And you might be right about the 8% off and all that, like i said i didnt negotiate, i simply went to look at the price. They had limited stock, if i wanted to custom order one i was told it would be 3 months, as it would be 2019 model

Canada...sure. USA...no way.

My bad about that. I am talking about Canada. I went to test drive the S5 and when the price sheet was being prepared, there was a bit over $2000 for freight, $995 for audi mats which I was told is a MUST if I wanted to buy the vehicle.
I was sitting at 81000 for the technik package, it had the advanced driver assistance, carbon fibre interior decor, sports diff, heads up display, and a few other options. Some of them I didn't care for but like I said if I wanted to custom order one, i was told it was 3+ months away..

Yeah...so that is the Prestige here. Loaded up Prestige with the included maintenance is close to $18k more than the G70 (USD). And...one year less warranty...in the USA.

The prestige is 18k more in Canada that in the states? I am sorry I'm not sure what you were referring to

In the USA...loaded up S5 Prestige with the included maintenance is close to $18k USD more than the G70 3.3T Sport AWD.

Oh okay now I get what you're saying. Thanks for clarifying that. But I do prefer the drive of the Genesis better after test driving both.
Got mine and love that vehicle so far. Everyone I've showed it to as given it compliments as well.

Yeah, the S5 I looked at (here in Canada) was ~$78K plus tax. They lead me to believe about 4% was as far as they would move, so even if you get a bit more, the car is still a solid $17-18K more before taxes here in Canada. If the difference was $7-8K I would have bought one but that was just too much especially after you add 100,000km of service to it.

Yeah...I am in that exact boat right now. I am finding dealers that are willing to go 10% of MSRP on an S4/S5...plus up to $4,500 in incentives on TOP of that discount. We are talking almost $10k USD off. Which brings it close to the G70 3.3 Sport AWD. Then...factor in a better RV...and the numbers come even closer. Like $2k difference (still lackes 3-year service and driver assistance stuff...since I am talking Premium Plus).

Honestly the s4 is the real comparison, not sure why the s5 would be compred to the G70, s4 is actually 3 inches longer than the G70

I do belive the s5 is shorter than the s4 possibly but the s4 will be cheaper

I know. S5 is not shorter. Definitely not the S5 Sportback.

But...I love the S5 Sportback. So for my situation...it is the S5 SB vs the G70.

Test drive the s5. I personally wasn't a huge fan of the drive of the vehicle, I went in with an open mind disregarding the price and options etc, at the end, chose the g70, car is so unique, when it was parked outside, I had people stopping by and taking pictures of it. I personally like to have a car that sticks out and is rare and g70 does that, also the price difference.. didnt make sense to get the audi s5 sportback , to me atleast. s5 looks much better than s4 i think that's why the Genesis is being compared to it ?

I have driven both. Both in Sport feel the same...driving me insane...LOL. And yes...I do like to have a unique car. As for price point...I just got quoted 10% off MSRP + additional $3k incentives. That puts it almost at the same price as the G70 (although lacking HUD and Driver Assistance stuff...but gaining other goodies). Man...life is tough...eh?
