  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2019 G70 obsolete?!

I have driven both. Both in Sport feel the same...driving me insane...LOL. And yes...I do like to have a unique car. As for price point...I just got quoted 10% off MSRP + additional $3k incentives. That puts it almost at the same price as the G70 (although lacking HUD and Driver Assistance stuff...but gaining other goodies). Man...life is tough...eh?

You must be lucky to get 10% off MSRP living in the states, it def. wasn't that much in Canada. There was 2000$ for Freight and $995+tax for all 4 mats and cargo liner which apparently is a must to buy it (thought that was a joke).. S5 was off by 16k when it had all the goodies like HUD, driver assistance etc.
And in sport mode they might be the same, in comfort mode i thought the audi was still too sporty where as the Genesis actually is a smoother ride and I can tell the difference in diff drive modes. Also the HUD is much better in Genesis, I love how the blind spots show on it, active steering etc compared to just speed in the Audi.
Sounds like the Audi is still costing you more with less stuff in it...So you're paying more for a car with less stuff? doesn't sound right lol. you're paying more and getting less ... hmm

Yep...all true. But here is the deal. The G70 I want is nowhere to be found. None of the dealers that have cars...have the one I want. To add...none of these dealers can search port inventory (what ?!?!!?). Only Genesis Corporate can do that...and they do not respond. So do I wait...and wait....and wait? Or just bail and get a car this Saturday...LOL.

What are you looking as in color wise that no one has? and trust me, i had to wait 3 weeks, and i was so impatient, so I can understand what you're saying, but I can say It was the right decision. Unless you need a car that bad where yours isn't working at all... i'd personally wait. This is my first time having ventilated seats and I love that feature (you can't get that in the s5 at all). you'll pay less and get wayy more out of the Genesis. I have black interior with red stitching and every single person I've showed it to has said its beautiful. S5 interior is meh...

You can get the S5 with ventilated seats...but you lose the cool cross stitched napa leather.

I am looking for the Siberian Ice (Sport 3.3 AWD) but with the gray stitching. I found one with red...but don't want it. I know it exists as the brochure has it, execs have confirmed it...and the car used for the photo release is the exact car I want.

Oh I was told none of the S line come with ventilated seats.. and nice combo, I wanted grey stitching too till I saw both of them in person and chose to go with the red because it looked better.
Just be patient. lol

2019 G70 has yet to arrive in the US and MB has already announced the 2019 C43 with updated 3.0L engine producing 385 hp; while BMW showed the upcoming 3-series today (330i with 255hp/295 lb-ft and 0-60 in 5.6s; and M340i with 382 hp/369 lb-ft and 0-60 in 4.2s). Both cars are available digital instrument displays and ambient lighting, among other things. I realize both German models cost significantly more than G70, but G70's advantage is starting to shrink before Genesis sells a single vehicle in the US. The Germans are turning up the heat!
Regarding the main question, no I don't think 2019 G70 is obsolete. This is just the nature of the car industry. Which ever company is about to release their next generation is always going to be able to one up the other companies who are say midway though the life cycle of their current generation. The new 3 series coming out early next year will most likely be back at the top. The A4 is already doing a refresh for 2019 just to try and stay in the mix when it was the top dog only 2 years ago. It's never ending.

I'm not sure what's going on with the G70 release issues in the US. It's obviously hurting sales, but it has a lot to offer at this price point. I don't think it really becomes obsolete though. If it wins motortrend COTY I imagine the demand for it will be just fine and may in fact help due to supply and demand. BMW's do cost quite a bit more. The 2018 340i xDrive in Canada starts at $56,800 and that's before any options at all, any fees, freight, etc. You are usually looking at around $70,000 to get one with the same options as the G70. The 2019's will not have many price breaks the first year and financing rates will be higher as well due to demand. The G70 still offers tons of value as well as Genesis already building a great reputation for reliability so early into it's existence.

Everything can be compared to everything. You just have to decide what's the best you can get for your budget.
Most German cars are lease and dump. So if you want to own a vehicle, I personally wouldn't consider a German car past its warranty.

Hyundai / Kia / Genesis now makes quality cars that will last. My 2011 Elantra, while lacking the newer safety stuff, starts every day and has never been out of service more than half a day. The fit, finish and material quality on the G70s at the auto show were very high.

As the G70 has not yetbartived in California, I’ve spent a lot of time looking at the BMW 540i and Audi S5 Sportback. I have not yet been able to actually find one comparably equipped to a G70 3.3T Sport even in the very BMW and Audi populated Orange County area.

If the new BMW is “better” that will just spur Genesis to one-up them. Five years from now, Genesis will be pounding on BMW and Audi and this big dealer mess will be ancient history.

Good luck with that. I waited and waited and waited. I just signed off on Infiniti Q50 sport for 425$ a month for 3 years. This q50 is well loaded and plenty fast. So Genesis lost another buyer I am sure I am not the only one

It's definitely nice. I have to have android auto and ventilated seats and neither are available. Otherwise I probably would have went for one cause the prices are great.

I landed a killer deal on a Red Sport. After test driving the car I LOVED it but the infotainment/navigation was so bad it seriously was the reason I didn’t buy the car.

I ended up with a Q50 3.0t as a rental car for 3 weeks and the infotainment/navigation is pretty weak. No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto either. The interior is not a strong point. I think the overall size of the car was just perfect. Slightly larger than the G70 or A4, but not as big as the TLX.

Yeah i didn’t really like the infotainment in q50 but g70 kind of looks straight out of Hyundai. But q50 sport drives very well. I love how planted it feels on the road. So over all q50 didn’t check a lot of tech boxes but g70 didn’t on the basic availability box.... lol

I think the interior is pretty nice if you ignore subpar infotainment system

I like how the Infiniti drives. I just can't overlook the infotainment and the fact that they have close to zero aero treatment on the underbody.

You prolly had the 3.0t lux that’s a basic car. That’s with out any features or sport breaks or suspension etc.

Lol well the basic availability box is the one that matters most.

Exactly Genesis f**ked up big time with G70... so many potential car buyers lost

A few disgruntled forum posters does not a statistic make!
