  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2019 G70 Owners Update

I've had my G70 since Nov 2018. Still a big fan of the car. I blacked out the chrome trim and the factory wheels. Also added a throttle controller. Tons of fun to drive and fantastic in winter with AWD. Dealer service has been great too!

Big question is why the heck would you leave your G70??
@Slip_Angle Curious....what benefit does a throttle controller have? And how difficult was it to install? I'm contemplating adding a RaceChip or JB4 to my G70 2.0T for just a little more power, but also because they claim to have better economy tuning too. Also want to do an intake just to make the turbo a little louder without going the blow-off valve route.

Cheers,
Brian

Throttle controllers allow you to adjust throttle sensitivity and remove any dead zone. For example: When you are in Eco Mode the throttle is very slow to react and you need to push the pedal down fairly far to get the car to respond. With the throttle controller you can make it respond much quicker. It's a rather simple product but I find it makes the driving experience more enjoyable.

In terms of JB4 or Racechip - More power = more fuel use.

2019...2.0 AWD....15,000 miles.

It has been great....with the $9,000 in add on packages, I expected some of the tech stuff to go wanky...but it has not.

Nice road car...will carve our mountain roads nicely....no real gripes...Wheels have to be washed often but no real chore.

Bought my 2019 3.3T back in April. Aside from changing other front and rear pads (brake shudder is gone now), no serious complaints. Just hit 6k today and did oil changes at 1.6k and just recently at 5.8k (Castrol Magnatec for first and Pennzoil Platinum for most recent, both used Wix filter).

~12 months into ownership with about 15k miles; RWD Sport 3.3t

  • around 6k-ish miles brake warped? causing vibrations while braking (few months into ownership) -- warranty repaired
  • 4 months ago one of my foldable mirrors stopped working and wouldn't open (even though I've disabled the auto-folding on lock feature to try and minimize lifetime wear) -- warranty repaired
  • rear tires have been completely eaten up (~10K miles) and learned they wouldn't even pass State Inspection when trying to get a flat fixed. I was slipping and sliding for a while, but didn't make the link.
  • battery completely died at 14k for no apparent reason -- Genesis Roadside jump (AAA sub-contractor) and took to the dealer. The 3 yr / 36K mile battery warranty covered the replacement -- warranty repair

no issues other than the above; pleased with ownership...just wish I'd gotten the AWD.

I've also noticed the G70 does not get the same attention/compliments as my '18 Stinger (where I'd see strangers taking pics at red lights), but the G70 does generate the occasional "what car is that?" which is a nice opportunity to talk about Genesis :)

2 years of ownership, only 10k miles on a RWD Sport 3.3t. No issues at all, other than a little accelerated wear on the driver seat bolster. Must be the way I get in and out of the car.

This has been my experience with the G70 also, bit of a sleeper but when people do notice it they're very interested to know what it is.

Every BMW 3 series drivers strains their necks to see our G70. My NYC parking lot attendant is crazy for the car and gives me a special spot. We really enjoy our 2.0T AWD with sport package. No issues after almost 6k miles except the dark chrome repair. Not too crazy about the ride over potholes, The 19" wheels and thin tires can make some unpleasant noise over some holes.

^ agreed. A4's, 3 series, C-class are boring to me even if they are great cars. but the new addition to that list: white Model 3's. i swear they have replaced the Civic or Camry as most common new car on the roads where i live. again, they might be good cars (i've driven two of my relative's Model 3's) and well-suited for urban folks, but they are now the yawn-king of new compact luxury sedans.
also, any colour other then white is a cost adder which explains why pretty much all you see are white ones. and those standard 18" rims...yikes. once again this highlights the great job Genesis did for the available colour palette - all available at no additional cost.

edit: i just walked my kids to school which is less than ~600m away. out of curiosity we played a 'spot the model 3' game. 9 white, 2 dark grey (maybe black), 1 blue. that was over a 7 minute walk. then i saw 4 others (3 white, 1 dark grey) on my way home - not double counting parked ones. no other car came close, not that i was noticing anyhow. maybe dodge ram was a distant 2nd...

They call it the "California Camry" for a reason. I'm a big fan of the electric revolution but when I sat in the Model 3, it was just so boring. I did like the pano roof but otherwise not much going on. They are still really expensive in Canada.

Can't get past the Model 3's goofy front end styling and the plain dash with the big stupid looking computer screen. The Model S is a mush better looking car and they run about 70k. Unfortunately, it has been out too long, hopefully a nice restyle will come out soon. Not really sure I would spend my own money on one, yet.
