  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

any recommendations? fully OEM or aftermarket coated rotors with OEM pads, looking to avoid rust build up on rotors

thank you

I recently had some issues and "fun" with this mess. I ordered a set of front rotors and pads from Dynamic Friction Company and did the whole geo-spec coated rotors with 5000 series pads. They did okay for about a week and then the brakes started to do the steering wheel shimmy and slight pedal pulsation when slowing down over 50 mph. I then tried to burnish them in since I only did light break-in such as you would do with a new car and that didn't work. After the burnish process, that didn't work, was not worse but still there. I contacted DFC and they informed me that I could have a bad rotor. Well, I have a 80 mile round trip commute and two small children I don't have time for returns and/or get them re-surfaced.
I then went to EBC and got the stage 1 rotors and pads. They are more expensive but so worth it. The break-in process is long, first 100 miles you have to be gentle on them like a new car, then drive them normally but not aggressive. After 200 miles, you need to carefully do the whole "burnish" break-in and do the 5 repeated 60-20 mph brake application and then let them cool off for about 10 minutes or so afterwards. Should be driving and stopping like a new car.

Thanks for reading all of the his crap even though you probably didn't care to know the specifics but would hate for you to go thru what I went thru trying to find a decent aftermarket set up. I would go with EBC.

I had my mechanic install OEM pads and rotors. I was worried about having issues with aftermarket products. Thanks for the response though.

I'm glad you had a good experience thus far with OEM. Best of luck.

Do you happen to have the part numbers documented? I've tried getting the tires balanced, a few times, but I get a lot of vibration also in the brake pedal and upon braking as well. I'm considering replacing both the tires and brake pads/rotors (OEM for the brake hardware) at this point. I bought it used from Carmax (2019 G80 Sport), but it's been an issue from day 1. Vibration in steering wheel is also very inconsistent. Sometimes it's obnoxious and other times it's barely noticeable.
