  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have recently had the dreaded dead battery problem that is notorious in the G90 and it is currently in the shop being serviced. They gave me a 2023 GV80 as a courtesy car and it is a super nice vehicle but I wouldn't trade my g90 straight up for it right now, assuming they get that battery head unit issue fixed, LOL.

Does it just need a new battery? It's possible something drained it but it's a really easy replacement, it takes a few minutes. Have you guys tried trickle charging the battery when the car isn't being used?

I had the parasitic drain test performed at the dealership several weeks ago and they said it was simply a bad cell in the battery, replaced it under (3-year) warranty, and since then I haven't had any issues. But at the same time I have driven the car regularly/daily. The problem seems to be most often observed when the G90 is left garaged/parked for multiple days without being driven. I didn't try the trickle charger because who wants to have to keep a luxury car battery wired to a battery tender, kinda defeats the purpose of "luxury", lol.

People with multi-million dollar car collections do it because they don't use their cars often. It's probably more common in ultra luxury and rare vehicles than common ones!

2017 Lexus 460 -- which I loved but got flooded out by the Ian water surge in Naples. So now have a 2020 G90U for two weeks and am very happy with it so far --still learning its secrets.
Generally, I employ a buy-and-keep strategy -- I expect to keep this for several years.
I am a bit concerned with the battery since I spend four months a year in Spain. My Lexus did not care, but evidently, I may have issues with the G90.
The 16-17 LS460 is a nice car. The Genesis G90U is a better car. Service will be your ownly rude awakening. There is mention somewhere here of a battery tender for long times in between drives. The Genesis battery is huge and in the trunk. It's a monster.

Yes re battery tender. I go to Spain for 8 to 10 months twice a year and what I read about batteries on this forum makes me a tad nervous. The car is kept in Naples so cold weather is not a factor, but lack of driving is. I am looking at various battery tenders and how to use one without having to keep my hood or trunk open for the connection to an outside power connection.

I go to Spain 8 to 10 WEEKS twice a year. Therefore my nervousness about the battery.

Look at the CTEK Multi US 7002 - smart trickle charger. Connect it through the jumper terminals inside your hood (not the battery in the trunk). It should go to the red, positive terminal and a grounding point (for the negative). If parked outside in your front driveway and not inside the garage, simply shut the hood over the trickle charger's cables carefully - it should be good to go. CTEK also offers an extension cable if you need longer cables for the AC outlet to your car's jumper terminals. An extension cable also allows you to place your trickle charger inside your garage when you close the garage door (if your car is parked outside in the drive way). That is how I set my smart trickle charger on all my vehciles when traveling away for a few days or more. CTEK Multi US 7002 , CTEK Comfort Connect Extension Cable
