  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I live in md and have found 2 cars i am comparing to purchase at 40k. One is a 2020 g70 2.0 prestige new l. Other is a used g80 ultimate 3.8 with 13k miles n 1 accident at 5k miles. Which one would you buy and why?

If the accident was not bad and properly repaired that should not be a deterrent.
Family? Look at the back seat of the G70.
I have and prefer the G80 for the luxury and ride, but if I was 40 years younger, the G70 with the sportier feel would be my choice.

Hi there. I'd test drive them both. What year is the G80? The ultimate package is really really nice. Upgraded interior, heads up display, more seat adjustments, etc.

I test drove a G70 2.0 because that's what was there at the time. I found it very underwhelming. The 3.8 v6 is much stronger across the entire power band. Also, I didn't fit very well in the G70 (I'm 6'5") so that made it a no brainer.

So, I'd drive them both and list the pros/cons of each. Enjoy your new ride regardless of what direction you go.

Driven both already just wanted to see which you guys thought was most luxury and looked better

Luxury? G80.

Looks? Subjective.

You didn't say which way you are leaning. And which do you think is more luxurious and looks better?

The G70 can have plenty of luxury features. I have the 3.3 sport so it’s loaded with everything I need. 80% of my driving in that car is alone so size is perfect for me. Backseat being tight is not an issue for its rarely occupied. The 2.0 engine you are going to have to wind it up some to get it in the power band. I’m not a fan of 4 bangers trying to be something they are not. The car that fits you, has the features you want and you like how it drives is what I’d go with.

They're both great cars but quite different. The G80 is quite a bit heavier so it doesn't have the same fun factor as the G70. The G80 is quieter and has a smoother ride. I assume the ultimate has the fancier sound system which I believe sounds a bit better than the G70. The G70 is more fun to drive and quicker. I like the looks of the G70 better myself. The G80 has a much more comfortable back seat and I suspect the trunk is quite a bit larger but I don't recall by how much. The G70 has fold down rear seat while the G80 rear seat does not fold down.

The used G80 3.8 Option 3 (Ultimate) at 13k miles is overpriced at 40K unless it is a 2020 model year.

Price aside, I'd take the G80 any day over the new G70 (except I avoid cars with an accident history unless it truly is minor). But I'm getting older and prefer comfort and refinement. I also am spoiled by the 360 degree surround camera, dynamic bending LED lights, and the 17-Speaker Lexicon with Quantum Logic Surround & Clari-Fi (TM) on the ultimate G80. If I were younger and wanted a sporty drive or if I cared about fuel efficiency, I guess I would go smaller.

I also believe that the older G80 design will age better than the current exterior design signature.
