  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I’m the second owner of a 2023 Genesis G80 3.5T Sport Prestige sedan, which comes with the OEM 20" gray wheels featuring the unique blade-style design. This is my first Genesis, and I chose it because I wanted a sporty, luxury sedan that offered strong value without high maintenance costs. After test-driving several options, I fell in love with the G80.

I’ve had the car for a few weeks now, and I’ve already noticed that the paint is peeling on two of the wheels. It looks like there’s a very thin layer of gray paint over the base metal, which seems to be a silver-colored alloy underneath.

I’ve seen reports of similar issues on the G70 forums, but it seems less common — or at least mostly reported on older models — in the G80 community. For reference, my vehicle has 18,000 miles on it.

Anyone else have these issues and if so, how did you manage to get the issue without coming out of pocket?

I had this problem on my 2015 Genesis. But, it was outside of warranty, so I was out of luck.

They may claim it's curb rash (which wouldn't be covered), but talk with your dealer. Peeling might be covered. They're painted wheels, and there's a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on "Paint". Paint is a subcategory of the New Vehicle warranty, which is transferrable to subsequent owners.
