  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2023 Genesis G90

Don't be surprised if there is an EV flagship - just not quite the bodystyle/shape of the G90.

I heard it will be an SUV. :( Not a surprise, though.

^ Talking bout something other than the upcoming GV90; probably in the form of a 4-door coupe or coupe CUV.

Getting closer

EPA just confirmed that we'll be getting the supercharged MHEV on the SWB model. This is the V8 replacement.

Yeah I thought I saw that recently. That’s cool and all, but why does it get worse gas mileage…
It slaps on an electric supercharger in addition to the TTV6. So it's far more powerful and responsive than the standard TTV6, but you pay the price in fuel.

The "mild hybrid" is just a 48 V battery for reducing turbo lag and smoother stop-start, not an actual hybrid setup. Admittedly without it, the fuel economy would have been even worse because of the supercharger.

Another reason is the massive 21 inch wheels on the supercharged version will hurt fuel economy compared to the standard 20's.

Oh got it, yeah my Mild Hybrid I had in the Ram improved fuel economy over the standard model and my current Audi does with it over the past model years within the same gen and refresh.

EPA doc confirms 420hp for the hybrid:

Interestingly it is 420PS/415hp in Korea but 420hp in the US, did they give it more power or forgot to convert 🤔

Yeah weird, I’m so ready to order one. Any news on when we can here in the U.S. ? I’m expecting it to hit dealers in very late summer in September or so.

Only “summer” guesses so far, sadly
I’m honestly really looking forward to it. But just nothing yet as far as communication. Trying to order day 1.

That's weird, so no long wheelbase model in North America? I wonder if they'll change anything else like the air suspension.

Doubt it, it’s one of the main features of the next Gen G90. As far as the LWB, they always offered them in SK but not in the U.S. because it’s essentially a limo transporter for Govt / Embassy officials. Almost like an S Class Pullman, so I’d be extremely surprised if they offered it here.

Yeah, the G90 LWB always existed (even back when it was the Equus) but was never sold outside of South Korea.

In South Korea it was rated at only 415 PS (409 HP) so we're seeing a pretty significant bump of 11 horses.

I think this is because, like the outgoing V8, that increase comes from using premium gas whereas the Korean version is for regular.

Indeed, I recall now

At this level it is higher than LS500

In my opinion the G90 slots above the Lexus LS just barely and just barely below the Audi A8L.

The brand new redesigned BMW 7 they just showed off and the very recently redesigned S Class is a higher tier of luxury that slots quite well above the G90 imo.

The A8 actually got way cheaper with the recent refresh, you can get one fully loaded now for <$105K. The LS still goes up to $120K. You can get an S8 at that price.

I'd say the supercharged G90 slots above the A8 and LS. The closest powertrain equivalent is the S500, which is also electrically supercharged and turbocharged with a mild hybrid.

Also, I think the new 7 is a disaster lol.

Honestly at this point they all have decent enough power, but man that BMW looks ugly. They look bits and pieces of the Hyundai and Jeep front ends but made it uglier. I think on looks alone it's the G90 ahead by a good amount, followed by the S class (not EQS) and the A8. Interior wise however I feel like only Rolls Royce, Bentley and Genesis are going for luxury. Everyone else is throwing in shiny plastic and slapped-on screens all over the place.
