  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2023 Genesis G90

Yeah I thought I saw that recently. That’s cool and all, but why does it get worse gas mileage…

Tuned more for performance than fuel economy (as it should be).

The 1 mpg hit is due to the added weight, tho wouldn't be surprised if the city MPG for the SC MHEV in real life conditions ends up being a little better.

In my opinion the G90 slots above the Lexus LS just barely and just barely below the Audi A8L.

The brand new redesigned BMW 7 they just showed off and the very recently redesigned S Class is a higher tier of luxury that slots quite well above the G90 imo.

Don't think the new G90 trails the Germans when it comes to the interior.

But when it comes to performance, the Germans have TTV8s and V12s (at least for now).

Here's a nite drive from AP.

For my eyes, reinforces my belief that this is the best looking, mainstream lux flagship sedan.

The 21 inch wheels are probably the main factor, since the base G90's come with 19's or 20's.

The S500 is pretty sneaky in that regard too, it's rated at 24 MPG but that's with 19 inch wheels. With 21's it'll plummet like the AMG GT53.

Interior wise however I feel like only Rolls Royce, Bentley and Genesis are going for luxury. Everyone else is throwing in shiny plastic and slapped-on screens all over the place.
It's not a sedan, but the new Range Rover has a very nice interior too, and their approach reminds of the G90.

That 31 inch screen in the back of the 7 Series is a total joke.

The V12TT is retired with the last of the 2022's. Too bad really, it gets over 20 MPG on the highway, and effortless torque/acceleration.

The new 7 does indeed look awful. I had a new G90 on my shopping list, and looked at the new 7. I also looked at CPO 7's and found even the older 7 series were a bit nicer and more equipment & packages for my liking, so I was able to get what I wanted at a price I wanted. I'm not a typical buyer though, so Genesis isn't targeting people like me with their fewer trim/package options. Had the Kept the V8, I'd have given it more consideration, I love that V8 in the 2015 genesis I had.

Yeah the next-gen LR RR Sport gets unveiled on the 10th. I sold my '22 Defender 90 and made quite the profit, love LR.

Yeah I really like the base wheels (19") in the Korean market the most, gives it kinda an "executive / gov't. (embassy) official" look.

Can't believe they scrapped the default dish wheels. I'm not buying a LWB for the wheels. Forget it.

You couldn't buy the LWB even if you wanted to since it's sold only in Korea.
Thanks for the assumptions, I will be living in Korea for an extended period of time next year so...

Genesis interiors (aside from the old G70) is reminiscent of what old school Jag interiors were like before they overly focused on performance/handling (cost of lightweight chassis) and cheapened out when it came to interiors (Cadillac did the same thing).

With Jag moving back upmarket (we'll see how that goes), we should see new Jags with sumptuous British interiors like in the old days.

Well it is an American forum, and considering all the RS4 G90’s sold in ROK and not a single buyer has come here to talk about it, yeah it is safe to assume haha.

So here's something interesting I noticed from the EPA documents- the SWB MHEV supercharged G90 weighs basically the same as the LWB version in South Korea, at 5126 pounds. That's 300 pounds more than the heaviest SWB non-electrified G90. You would think the shorter length would cut off some weight, but it appears to have made no difference. And no, we're definitely not getting the LWB version because the EPA interior space measurements are identical.

I don't believe this extra weight is from the mild hybrid setup, as other manufacturer 48V systems have a negligible affect on the weight, and 300+ pounds extra is in the territory of a plug-in hybrid sized battery. My theory is that the extra weight may be from the addition of an active anti-rollbar powered by the 48V system (like those found in a Bentley or Porsche) that isn't on the Korean market version, but that's a wild guess, and I'm not sure how that would add over 300 pounds.

Also, the documents confirm that this will be riding on 21 inch wheels.

For a car that weighs at least 300 pounds more than the standard G90 and rides on 21 inch wheels, I'm surprised the fuel economy isn't worse than it is.

Nice research into it, that’s awesome.

I don't know if it's awesome because that 300 pounds extra would be pretty embarrassing for a mild hybrid system if that's all it is and nothing more.
It’s meant to bring up the horsepower to the old Equus / 1st Gen Engine (420 HP) because the new standard version of the engine isn’t enough and they probably didn’t want bad press knowing the new RS4 wasn’t as powerful as the old one.

Here’s the full EPA document if anyone wants it. Also interesting to see that it’s AWD only (good for me in the Snow Belt), not sure if anyone mentioned that, RWD supposedly not available on the RS4, at least for the U.S. Spec ‘23 MY from the looks of it.

Aside from that, really hoping order banks open in May. Fingers crossed!

Edit: Just now seeing Backslack included the whole PDF, my b. There it is anyway lol.

Yeah, I meant the weight figure, not the power. There's really no explanation for how an electric supercharger and 48V battery alone can add over 300 pounds when they usually add only around 50 for other manufacturers like Mercedes.

That the version we get in the U.S. weighs as much as the larger LWB version with the same powertrain makes absolutely no sense to me. I hope we get a good explanation on its official launch here.

Well 21 inch wheels too, I think they get max 20’s there. Maybe I dunno
