  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My car was flat bedded from my home yesterday because it would not start. When pushing the start button it gave a message to push the FOB against the Start/stop button to start it. Did not work. After trying a bunch of things I found I could start it with the FOBs remote start. But closing the door or trying to put it in gear it would die. If I just let it sit and run it would die after about 30 seconds.

I did spend about 20 minutes on the phone with the service writer trying different things. I was impressed with his knowledge. This was late yesterday that it was towed so they have not done anything yet.

Anyone else with a similar experience? I will update as we go.

That sucks, hopefully something simple like a bad battery, good luck!

Did you try the other smart key?

Yes, tried both several times. I was at the dealer today. I have a GREAT service writer. He played around with it and got the same results as I did. He said it could be a couple of days before they can start working on it. I’m in a 2025 base dour cylinder G70 loaner.

Thanks for the responses.

Quick update. The dealer called me Friday and told me that they think the problem is with an “antenna” under the dash that communicates with the FOB. They had a little more work to do to confirm that is the problem and then they would order the part. I expect I’ll get an update today.

BTW, my loaner is a 2025 base model car with the 300 hp four cylinder. My car is a 3.3 Sport Prestige. If anyone wants to hear my thoughts on the car let me know and I will post a “review” of it.

You guys probably thought about this already. But someone tried charging the battery right? Before they take your dashboard apart?

The dashboard did not have to be taken apart. It turned out that a control module had to be replaced.

It is fixed except that they discovered this morning that the TPMS had to be paired again. They did not have the equipment to do it. They even took it to Discount Tire who tried but could not pair them because it has the new module. They have what they need on order from Genesis. I’m still in the loaner.

The dealer has been fantastic to work with.

Nice to hear they're working for you, which dealer in Texas are you using?

Genesis NW San Antonio. They have a stand alone Genesis dealer now that is not even close to the Hyundai dealer that they had shared space with. The facility is fabulous and the people there are obviously trained to treat customers the way high end dealers do. I have owned quite a few BMWs, Audis, and Lexus so i know what a good experience dealer is.

Great to hear that, echoes my experience at the new Genesis stand-alone in Las Vegas, NV. Even had a Zen garden in the showroom atrium :).

I have not updated because it is still in the shop with TPMS still not working. They told me today Genesis is coming out with something new for paring them and one is being sent to the dealer with an eta of about a week. They still have my car and Im still in a loaner.

Holy Smokes!!! lol
They've had your car for about a month now?? Are they making your monthly payment as well? I kid. I kid.

Sorry you have to go through all this as you seem to be taking it in stride, which is good. I'd be swinging at the fences. lol
I don't understand why they cannot give you the car even though the TPMS isn't working. As long as you know all four tires are good to go, you're good to go.
Good luck and keep us posted!

They actually did offer to give me my car back. I elected not to because I was concerned that if i turn in my loaner and take my car home it might be out of sight and out of mind.

The dealer has actually been great. The service manager proactively called my today. He told me that the sensors are actually paired and that he tried lowering the tire pressure and it does give a low tire warning but it does not show the actual pressure. Knowing that I may go pick it up.

I appreciate you telling me Im taking to in stride. I’ve always said that every business has issues, its how they handle them that counts. Im not always this calm.

Awesome man.

Good luck and I hope it's the only issue you have with the car. I love my '23 G70 Sport Prestige awd car. It's a blast and very enjoyable to drive.
Take care.

New info. I did pick it up today while we wait for an “ignitor” that wakes up the TPM system. But when I left the dealer I discovered the display was very dim. It was in “night mode” even though I was in full mid day sun. And with the lights set to “auto” they were on when they should not have been.

I turned around and took it back to the dealer. A tech immediately worked on it for an hour and was unable to fix it. But nothing affected the driving so i drove it home. It was great getting back I to my fully loaded 3.3 Sport Prestige after a month in the base car (still a very nice car for $44,000 msrp compared to my $56,000 car).

I was able to talk to the Service Manager and General Manager and am very comfortable that everything will be done as quickly as they are able. The GM is who I actually made the deal with on the car.

Awesome man. Good to hear.
Hopefully the "new issue" won't really be an issue. Did you try turning the lights completely off? I have mine off and it seems to work correctly. I turn on my lights whenever I need them and do not leave the setting on "auto", even though it shouldn't make a difference.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Yes, that is the first thing I tried. The worst part is that driving into the sun it is virtually impossible to read the heads up display because it is dimmed also. And yes, I have turned the brightness all the way up. 😇

Quick update is that the dealer told me today the “igniter” to fix the TPMS is on order still and they have been told it is feely available now and they expect it to be (another) week or so. In the meantime I am driving the car.

Dealer has the tool for fixing the TPMS. I have an appointment this Friday to take it in. Also on the list is to fix the headlight sensor. I told him I want a nice loaner! This is sort of a joke….i wanted the GMs personal Corvette as a loaner, but he got rid of it. My Service Advisor just bought a 2004 Corvette Z06 special edition. I’ve owned seven Corvettes and know them well.
