  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently rented a 2024 G70 (base AWD) and really enjoyed it. The 4 dash vents had directional control (up/down/left/right) but I did not see a way to open and close an individual vent. But I read in the online owner's manual (after returning the car):

The instrument panel vent air flow can be directed up/down or left/right using the vent adjustment lever. The air flow can also be CLOSED using the vent adjustment lever. Move the lever to position to close, and to position to open.

Did I just miss the 'vent adjustment lever' or what?

Thanks!

All 4 vents have wheels to close them. Some cars don't have that in the center vents, but the G70 does. Mine is a '23, but I think the '24 has the same vents. Just the HVAC interface changed.

@JCtx - Thanks! I bet my eyesight is just failing. Next time I have the opportunity I will check that out more carefully. The last time I rented a Genesis (Gen 1) I ended up buying one. This car was great. The trunk was tight but when I was cleaning up the car to return it to the rental agency I discovered the rear seats fold down. That will help with multiple golf bags. I'm not used to buying premium gas so the extra $0.75 -- $1/gallon hurt. Thanks again! Bob

Hey, remember premium is only recommended, not required. I've used regular, and car works perfectly fine. I've had this 2.0T engine before, on a 2016 Optima SX-L, and it made 245HP/260TQ with regular gas (premium wasn't even recommended). And my G70 makes 252/260 with premium, so logic says it should make 245/260 on regular. I'm using premium now, but honestly can't feel the difference. Maybe I need to mention that on my ad (I'm selling my G70), since where I live the difference is also $1 per gallon.

The extra 25% displacement (now 2.5L) for the 2024-25 base model yields 300HP/311 Ft. Lbs. It's all I need. Most of my 1800 miles was highway and I used ECON mode but I got 34 MPG.

Yeah, forgot about that. I had that engine too, on a '22 Santa Fe Calligraphy, and it ran great on regular only. But the crappy DCT transmissions were failing left and right, and Hyundai didn't want to do anything until that happened (with a wait time in the months), so traded it for a '24 Subaru Outback T-XT, since we needed a reliable travel vehicle. Wife likes it much better than the SF. Many issues with the 2.5T engine too, but it gave us zero issues in 10K miles.

I have a 2023 G70 advanced prestige 3.3T and I run 87 octane. That car to me is a 50K computer, let the ECU figure out the timing for 87 octane. I'm not paying a dollar a gallon more so the engine can be happy. It's their problem for the next 100,000 miles.

Yes, the computer will make the engine happy. Have you tried a tank or two of 89? That may make you happy. The turbo engines in particular like the higher octane, especially at the low end. You won't see any difference cruising the highway at 75, but you may like the difference pulling away from a light smoother. S[lirge in a tank or two.

Thanks for the reply, Oh I intend to run some premium as soon as prices drop again.
