So, I traded in my 2018 G90 for a 2025. Lovely car which, I find, drives as well as the 5.0 Liter V8. The lack of a spare, however is disturbing my sleep as I had two side wall damages in the 2018 over the years. Has anyone had a 'good' experience with the sealant? Have you bought a useable spare? Does tha spare take up most of the reduced trunk? What source would you recommend? And is there a replacement sealant canister for the G90 that isn't the cost of another new tire? It is really kind of a bummer.
Trunk space would be virtually eliminated with a spare!
Buy tire insurance if you want piece of mind…you can get a pretty decent policy for not that much. And I can guarantee you won’t have tire issues after that policy is in effect. Was so sick of low profile tire issues after the G90 and bought tire insurance for
Palisade…not one tire issue of course…they were not low profile either.
Do the math on your prior issues and the chances you won’t be able to take advantage of the road side assistance, State Farm vehicles, AAA, cell service or what have you.
Changing tires sucks…it is loud, cold or hot, dirty and chances are you will ruin the clothing you are wearing, which probably costs more than a call for a tire fix.
Also, factor in that the TPMS often times gives you heads up of the problem to get you off the road and to the nearest gas station. I have been saved by TPMS 2 or 3 times in the past with my 2017 G90.
I have not even thought about the lack of spare since I bought my car. I won’t be changing a spare for the rest of my life unless it is a true emergency, like a health issue coupled with a flat and the tire is off the
rim.
I doubt I will mess with the sealant unless I am in the boonies without cell. Otherwise I will drive to the tire center, call triple AAA or Genesis roadside assistance.
Also I don’t think the 2023 and up versions have as low a profile tire as the 2017 and 2018? The northeast NYC metro area was a bear on tires!
