If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm thinking about mounting Continental ContiProContact 245's on the rear of my R-Spec Sedan that came with 235/45/19

I know I won't be able to rotate the front to rear, but has anyone put the wider aspect ratio tires on the stock rims?

The reason I'm thinking of doing this is because I shredded one of the rear's and cannot locate the 235's in stock anywhere.
Even Tire Rack is telling me these are so rare that they need a week to get them.

I know I could just put a different brand on the back, but I'd like to keep them all looking the same..

The R Spec sedan also came with an optional Summer Tire Package with 245 45 19 tires on same R Spec wheels, which is what I'm running on my car, except I have the Conti DW's. Does this help?

OK, that helps and agrees with what the guy at TireRack just told me on the phone.

I'm going ahead and order the 245's for just the rear.
In a month or so, I'll do the fronts also so I can rotate them.

Thanks!

the 245/45`s are slightly smaller in diameter than the 235/45`s- may not look right on the car and could throw a warning light,or trouble code with one or more of the cars systems(abs, ect)

Couldn't be much of a problem if the factory offers both sizes (one standard and one optional). The 245/45 does 753 revs per mile - the 235/45 is 761 revs per mile (Tire Rack data) and that is not meaningful.

Yep, it's an option. My R Spec came with them. 245/45 19's and no issues other than they only lasted 18K miles. I've since put on the Conti DW's as well and think they are a better tire than the original S04 Pole positions. Now if they will just last a little longer. ;)

Uh, a 235/45/19 is SMALLER in diameter than a 245/45/19. 27.33 on the 235 vs. 27.68 on the 245 for a difference of .35.

yes you would think that- however- i checked the specs on both sizes on the tire rack website- thats what they listed- as for the 245/45 being an option- yes thats correct-however- that size was used at ALL four corners, not just the two in the rear- i have seen mismatched tires(different brands)of the SAME size cause all sorts of damage on vehicles- the vehicle compares the relative speed of all four tires to detect one that differs and activate the abs or turn on a warning light- i would definately not reccommend staggering the sizes unless the circumference difference is under 2%

Well, I've been driving on them for a week now, 235's in front - 245's in the back.

I don't notice anything different other than a tad more traction when pulling on a short merge onto the freeway.. it seems to light up the ATS a little less and I don't smell as much rubber as before.
I attribute that to slightly wider grips in he back, plus the rears have 25K less miles on them.
No issues at all with the ABS or Traction Control Systems.

It does give it a slightly more aggressive look having the rears be larger, but you have to know what your looking for to see it.
Still, in a few weeks I'm going to put 245's on the front also so I can rotate them.
