  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Apologies if this has been discussed - I spent the past hour searching the forums and couldn't find any topic with the same set up I'm looking to do. Just bought some used 20" niche M158 rims for my car (8.5 - square set up; 35mm offset). Most others have a staggered set up, but I prefer to keep it squared for rotation and warranty purposes. I can't lower my car due to my steep driveway (dropped my previous Lexus before and it was painful backing uphill), but would like to fill the wheel well gap by having thicker walls. I also value ride comfort over the rubberband look. Any thoughts on tire size? They currently have Pzeros 245/45r20s that are worn out and need replacing(debating between dws06 and as3+). I haven't fitted it on the car yet to see if it will work (on vacation in Hawaii, but can't wait to get home to get the rims situated), but thought I would take to the forums to get some insight from those who might have tried this approach before. What tire fitment has worked best for a square set up that fills the well without rubbing?

Again sorry if this has been addressed - if you have a link to the thread that talks about a 20" square set up, I'd appreciate it.

Mahalo in advance!

DWS06 is my favorite all season tire right now. That's a great choice.

I have been running a square set up on my 2016 for a few months. Also 20×8.5. I believe my offset is +35 too, but I'll have to check. I went with 255/35 Indy 500 Firehawk tires though. I'm not positive on whether or not I want to drop it yet. But, I don't find the wheel gap to be all that bad in person with the proper aspect ratio tire set up. You might think about test fitting them before you go with a thicker side wall. The 245/45 should be close enough for you to visualize what a 255/35-40 would look like.

Good luck with it!

Went with Michellin AS3s when I swapped out my 18s for stock 19s and they drive great!

Thanks for the response - exactly the type feedback I was looking for. I did put the 245/45r20 on and they fill the wheel well great in terms of gap, however the front rubs the interior well with turns. Bought 245/35r20s. Tire Rack did call me with concerns of load rating (said it meets the load, but their policy is to have a 10% contingency which 245/35/20 falls in 8-9%).IMG_20190907_195833.webpIMG_20190907_195846.webp

Thanks, it was between the AS3s and DWS06. I had the DWS on my IS350 and liked them, so I thought I would see how the Genesis rides with them. I'll try the AS3 next round.

Update: got the wheels and tires on. 20" Niche M158 bronze on 245/35zr20 Conti DWS06. Washed and ready!00000IMG_00000_BURST20190914124928638_COVER.webpIMG_20190914_124722.webp00100lPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20190914124857547_COVER.webpIMG_20190914_124824.webpIMG_20190914_124550.webpIMG_20190914_124803.webp

Looks good. I love white with gold/bronze. I decided to just do the calipers gold on my car as the gold/bronze wheels I was looking at were just too much. But I like the look!

Nice look, Aggie! I'm still in eval mode over which new shoes I'm going to be putting on mine, but like the way the bronze contrasts against the Casablanca White. And the Extreme Conti's sharpen the look too. Good job! (y)
