5.0 and 4.6 share the same axle.I'm considering swapping in the axle from a 5.0 into my 4.6. I'm assuming you had to swap the axles because the splines are different. Anyone know if the axles are the same between the 5.0 and the 4.6?
This is sick! So it is confirmed carrier size is the same across the board? Do you by any chance know if any of coupe LSD would bolt up to an 11 3.8 sedan? LSD is One of my top modifications for any car, and if coupe carrier bolts right up that's the most perfect way to do it! Thanks!Hey guys. Long story short the diffs swap without any issues. I'm running a 4.18 from a 2.0 coupe in my 5.0 r-spec. Just switch to the 3.8 sedan axles and you are fine. No tuning needed. The computer goes by rpm and speed to calculate shifts. Heres my gen running an e85 blend with the 4.18 diff. Look at which gear it kicks down to. Usually you do not see 5th until about 120
It will 100 percent with no issue ass is the same with all diffs from 09 to 16 of the genesis bk1 bk2 and BH platform. This is sick! So it is confirmed carrier size is the same across the board? I have a 3.91 non LSD oem and haven't decided if I want to go 3.91 LSD or 4.18 LSD
You have the 8spd or the 6spd zf trans? Thanks for confirming!
Just pulled a trigger on a 3.91 out of 14 Auto coupe for my 11 3.8 Sedan. Will see how that goes. Decided to keep ratio the same, but still playing with the idea of a 4.18 . I think that and always start from 2nd in manual mode= Never wheel spin and good launch haha
6spdYou have the 8spd or the 6spd zf trans?
That is a 16% increase in torque which also means 16% higher rpm in every gear. That makes for much faster acceleration but much worse fuel economy. With a manual transmission, that makes for a lot more shifting in town too.If you follow me on Facebook you may have already seen this.
Yesterday I took delivery of a 3.727:1 LSD differential assembly out of a 2013-2014 Genesis Coupe 2.0T MT

The Coupe and Sedan share both the same differential housing and the same guibo (Or driveshaft flex disc if you will). The only variance being what's used inside the housing. My 4.6 came with a 3.13 non-LSD differential. Different years and engines have different gearing (3.538, 3.727, 3.909), but I believe we have all come to the conclusion none of the first gens came with an LSD?
The Coupe and Sedan also use the same TCS/ESC hardware, but the Sedan has a bit more intuitive programming when it comes to power/throttle cut. So I expect no issues out of the electronic nannies. Quite excited to see how much difference in acceleration/feel there will be going from 3.13 to 3.727.
The differential will go in the car within the next few weeks.
What year sedan do you have. I’m looking to swap a 3.53 lsd in my 2011 4.6. Wondering if your speedometer was off or any other issues after the swap. I saw in some earlier post there might be an issue with the 6spd auto not recognizing the new ratio.I finally got around to doing this swap. I kept it tame and got an sedan r-spec differential. The difference in acceleration compared to my stock 4.6 differential is noticable. Its not a bad swap but it will take a few hours to get done. I needed to a pass-thru socket set for the 2 bolts on the muffler side of the differential. There are some videos of people swapping out the diffs in the coupes. For the sedan you do not need to remove any suspension components/linkages. Just unbolt the diff, remove a couple of brackets, and unbolt the drive shaft, unbolt the rear exhaust, and lower away. If you are swapping axles just remove the rear wheel, cotter pin, and axle nut.

U think the 3.53 gears from any equus would work as well ?I have a 2011 sedan. The speedometer works fine. I haven't seen any issues with the swap. I was considering swapping in a LSD but I wasn't sure if the computer and the LSD would fight each other.
Drives like normal. I'm now at 200k miles and drive the car 7hr trips religiously over weekends. I'm currently on 100% ethanol averaging 23mpg and 27mpg on E85How does it drive on the highway, I ask this cause my diff went out in my 2011 4.6 genny and wanted to do a similar build to yours . Im still trying to daily it but also pick a gear ratio where I can still rip it when needed
