  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

3.8/4.6 BTR Tunes Ready To Ship!

I think those are multiple ECU variations rather than engine variations. Jim Ellis Hyundai shows 2 different engines (2009-2010 and 2010-2013):

http://www.jimellishyundaiparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_product=8466545&ukey_assembly=417876&ukey_make=1033&modelYear=2010&ukey_model=14684&ukey_driveline=0&ukey_trimLevel=0

Sorry for not being clear, indeed there were two versions, the 375 & 385hp.

Other than reading ECU part number, which located next the ECU on the driver side, one can almost generalize, on a Tech model if the foot parking break is present, the engine would be the original 375hp, if electronic parking with the adaptive cruise control are present that would be the later 385hp engine variant.

If my memory serves, the changes where made halfway during 2010 year model, so there few 2010 4.6 sold with the original 375hp engine variant.

[EDIT] Here is the reference thread that I remembered:

"Hyundai Consumer Affairs: "2010 Genesis Sedanvehicles produced after March 1, 2010 have an extra 10 horsepower (HP) increasing the HP to 385 when using premium fuel and 378 HP when using regular fuel. "

I've got the electronic parking brake, adaptive cruise, etc but the car was built in September 2009. The build date makes me assume its one of the earlier 2010's.

Well....work bonuses are arriving next month so I bit the bullet and bought the damn thing lol. Will report back once I get a chance to install. It was a little easier to swallow with the $95 discount.

I look forward to hearing those results.

I might just need to plan another track day at Thunderhill so I can get the car dyno'd at the same place I got my baseline last Saturday.

I subscribed to your YouTube channel a few days ago so I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Yes, I would love to see an apples-to-apples comparison of real world results!

Yup! what he said ^... Looking forward to the 5.0 tune as well. Its not all about hp, the tweaks they made can make the car respond in a completely different manner. Quicker 0to60 times and 1/4mile times hopefully..

The ECU BTR used was from a 2011. I can't recall the build month, but I made sure it was the same as mine (for obvious reasons :D). Since it's been almost a year since I did the research and sent the ECU, I cannot recall the different variances, but I can recall that this tune would be successful for all variants of the 4.6 as long as the coding was the same across the spectrum (which it is). From what I understand, Hyundai began a different coding sequence with the 5.0 which is causing the issues they are having with cracking that ECU. BTR has had both ECU's since last February, supplied by myself and DavidErle. Someone like 84Ford may need to chime in to better explain the in's and out's, but this is the best I can offer as of now. Hope it helps a little...

Might anyone have info on the availability and/or pricing for tune if I supply my own ECU? I have a brand new 4.6 ECU that was just gifted me specifically for this purpose.

As long as it's brand new and not mated to a vehicle already, you're golden. I would reach out to BTR just to be safe, however.

Yup, the ECU has never had a VIN set on it. I will shoot BTR an email and find out. I will get all of the details and report back. Thanks.

Happy New Year !

Any feedback on the BTR tunes yet ?

Haven't received mine yet. BTR's site shows it hasn't even shipped yet.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Well that's disappointing ! Hopefully once the holiday season is over you will get to experience Christmas all over again !

After all that buildup, I'm a bit disappointed in the pricing. I had already psyched myself up to the $600, but the jump to current price point is just too much for me (value judgment perspective). Oh, well. Hope y'all give us all good feedback on the chips. My interest was not in peak numbers, but the lower end torque boost and firm full throttle shifting (IMHO my 2011 has long full throttle shifts). I'd be curious to hear reports on those to attributes. The full defeat of traction control would have been nice as well.

Get a BTR tuning event together in your area. All it requires is to pick a date that works for BTR and a local shop with a dyno willing to rent out the dyno for one or two days. Then 10 people to put down a 50% deposit for the tune.

There is a BTR event in April in NC, but it is already full, we had 20 people lock in two days worth of tuning.

Deposit for basic bolt-ons 3.8/4.6 was $275, then remaining $275 due before date of tune and $100 to the dyno shop.

You could also contact Sam Lee at BTR and see if you can send in your existing ECU and tune it and what price that would be. Considering the cost of a spare ECU listed in the NC tune event page is $450, you might be looking at just $500.

thanks for the tip. Good insight. I have an extended warranty on my car, so I'll have to noodle on the risk of a standard warranty repair where they may catch an issue vs. the enjoyment of the upgrade in performance.
All, please weigh in once you get yours installed. It ma be enough to tip me over to doing it. thanks again.
