  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I test drove a 3.8 coupe 6MT track, was quite impress with the ride, pick up, and value. However, I have never owned a Hyundai and am concerned about quality and reliability. I had a real bad experience buying a 1st year model from anthor brand and 16 repairs later it was declared as a lemon after two years. So, I am struggling with the risk of owning a Genesis Coupe. Am looking for a real short term lease like 6 months to try it out or just wait for 2011. Any advice?

p.s. The long Hyundai warranty does not give me any comfort, I really hate taking car in for repairs all the time, it is a real time waster.

Never heard of a 6 month lease on a car......especailly on an import. GM might try it cause they have to......I have had several 1st model year cars...... My MR2 had no issues what so ever....to speak of.....My 240 SX was a 1st model yr and was bullet proof. Ranger I had was a POS along with a first model yr Explorer. First model yr Prelude was a very good car as well. My 02 Altima had more tsbs and recalls than I have stones in my rock garden, but, it has been a good car. Had 1st Model yr GTO and it was superb...couple quirks....but no big deal.

I would not be afraid at all...Hyundai makes a quality vehicle....among the best at this time.

Hyundai Group underwent a massive restructuring following the 1997 East Asian financial crisis and the founder's death in 2001. Today many companies bearing the name Hyundai are legally unrelated to the Hyundai Group. Some of the larger former members of the conglomerate include Hyundai Group, Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, Hyundai Department Store Group, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, and Hyundai Development Group. Following the conception, Hyundai Group's business remains manufacturing of elevators, fung chu tin, container shipping services, and tourism.

Check the reliability studies and reports. Hyundai is way above average. Great cars.

They are like the 4th or 5th largest auto maker in the world (yes, bigger than Honda).

With all that said, I would suggest staying away from ANY first year model car from any company. Let them iron out the kinks first. If you can't wait, lease the car, don't buy.

Go buy a Ford. They've been around a long time--
