I chose the V6 Tech package after driving both. My decision was based on several aspects. I drove both the V8 and V6 and was in-love with the 4.6 power but found the V6 to be not bad (V8 made a bigger smile)... The V6 with Tech was the color I liked while they had just sold the same color V8. Next I thought the 3.8 liter would get much better gas mileage (appears that I was wrong) but I can get up to 29 MPG on the highway.
I love my V6 but I do wish I had waited and got the V8. That power and responsiveness is intoxicating. IMHO I would wait to find the V8 tech package and never look back.
Best Regards,
I had the 3.8 initially and drove it over a year for approx. 26,000+ miles and then traded for the 4.6 with the tech package (silver/black).
I can honestly say the 4.6 is head and shoulders above the 3.6 version as far as the extreme buttery engine transmission drivetrain is concerned, otherwise the cars are pretty much the same other than the 4.6 appears to have a firmer ride, more impressive acceleration and a little less fuel consumption.
Under average driving conditions (certainly less than 75 or 80) I have at times experienced nearly 30 mpg from the 4.6 acompared to 2 to 3 mpg. additional for the 3.8 over identical 240 mile courses and this is in the mountains of Pennsylvania. I have been using mid grade gasoline ever since the beginning without any problems whatsoever.
This is not a sports car (I already have one of those) but a luxury sedan with exceptional value.
