  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I traded in my 2011 4.6 for a 2015 3.8 Ultimate and seem to be getting the same mileage. Actual (not indicated) fuel economy on the first two tanks is about 21 mpg for a majority of suburban driving (no stop and go, little freeway). The 2011 V8 got almost the same and I was expecting better from the V6. The new car was a demonstrator with 2000 miles on it and I'm wondering if the engine controller has "learned" some bad habits. Should I consider pulling the battery connection for a reset?

I get 24.5 to 25.5 with my 3.8 Ultimate in mixed driving. My 2009 4.6 indicated about the same, but was much less in reality. I find the 2015 3.8 indication to be fairly consistent with what I put in at the pump. The 2009 lied a bit! I think Hyundai is a lot more honest since they got caught a couple of years ago. My wife gets periodic checks for her Tucson to make up for the exaggerated claims.

I have a 5.0 Ultimate and I get around 22mpg in highway driving...

My mileage for mixed driving is 20 to 21 mpg so I’d say “you” are right. You know what… I’m okay with that. Like I’ve said before this car is more than just a 0-60 time or mpg reading. If you can’t enjoy the car for its more refined attributes you’re in the wrong car.

I find the 3.8 to be very sensitive to throttle application. Around town I am in the 18-19 range but I admit I don't dawdle around from a stop. If I put some effort into not getting going so quickly, I see around 22. Highway mileage is exactly what I expect 27-30 (depending on how much passing I do).
