  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

3 year tire recall coming to an end - which tire is best?

I've had no problems with the Michelin Primacy MXM4s that were installed last November. The original Hankooks had about 30,000 miles and were getting pretty noisy.
HAD THE MICHELINS INSTALLED 18MONTHS AGO 18000 MILES AND THEY ARE WORN OUT IN THE CENTER OF THE TIRE OUTSIDE TREADS ARE GREAT,TIRE PRESSURES WERE MAINTAINED CORRECTLY.MXM4 SPECS SHOW TREAD DEPTH AS 11/32 WISH I HAD TAKEN A TIRE GAUGE WHEN THEY WERE REPLACED.
$1200 EVERY 18000 MILES IS A BIT STEEP I AM AN OLD MAN AND DRIVE FOR FUEL ECONOMY.

Have a Genesis Ultimate 5.0L and have exchanged from the Hancock to the Continentals per Hundyai exchange program. Since then I have replaced the Conts due to pothole and road issues. Each time the Conts produced a bubble either on the exterior or interior sidewall of a tire which was neither covered by Cont or Hyundai. Very expensive proposition.

Once these tires get to a point of replacement I will NEVER buy the Cont Pros every again.

My 2016 AWD came with Michelin Primacy MXM's and they were fine until about 30,000 and then they got noisy and tread wear was at 5/32. I hadn't rotated ( I will now ) and replaced the fronts with the same tire. Noise went away. Tire is fine if you get a good set.

apologies if this has already been covered but i did not finish reading the entire thread before this post.....

i just got off the phone with my dealer and we talked about the "end of the tire recall or campaign" whichever you want to call it. the deal is there is NO set end date, the tire manufacturer has deemed that after a certain amount of time (3 years) the average shelf life of this tire has been used up and these tires should no longer be on a vehicle given the annual mileage and typical usage. Hankook can at anytime say thats it, no more, customers should have replaced these already anyway.

also worth noting because it may apply you you as well, the original wheels and tires must be on the car at time of replacement or at least to get the process started, so in my case i have to drive the car up on my custom wheels and take the originals up seperatly and have them mounted at the shop so they can photograph, measure, and document the tires.

hope this helps clear up any confusion - it did for me, have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend everyone!!!!
