  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Seems like a rip-off but they won’t do a la carte other than removing the alignment (which I don’t see as needed, purchased new tires and alignment at 20k). They tell me it’s a bunch of fluid and filter changes but good lord 1200 seems insane. Anyone have experience with this? I don’t want to void warranty by using another vendor but am considering it.

Did you compare thier suggested services with the manual? Sometimes dealers come up with their own list of profit making items.

I would do what Ed says. Manual doesn’t really have anything for 30k miles besides oil change and maybe cabin air filter. 36k is the LSD oil change (if applicable) and 42k is spark plugs. Nothing wrong with doing these earlier but definitely check to see what you’re getting for that kind of money.

Sounds steep for an oil change and some filters, even for a dealer quote. Using an independent mechanic will not void the warranty.

We have yet to see what the quote actually includes.

and DIY wouldn't void it either;). Just keep receipts and a log, just in case. Many of us here do our own maintenance, even when it's included. Good luck.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the advice. Seems they do a lot of fluid flushes and changes according to the service advisor and then inspecting of things. Ha. I can’t imagine anything with 30 K on it needs the 1200 service (cancelled the alignment). Especially since there is another service at 36 and 42.

What does the manual say needs to be done at 30k?

Yep, as everyone has mentioned ask for detailed list what the dealer is suggesting and compare to manual. Usually nothing major is done until 5 years...then need coolant, battery etc.

Details are needed if you want any meaningful feedback but yes on the surface I suspect it's overpriced and/or services you don't truly need. Also share with is what model you have.

2019, 3.3T h-trac, dynamic (brembos). 32k miles. 4 years old. City driving mostly and a fuel pump/solenoid replaced at 28K

Going back probably 10 years, I was sitting at the dealer while my car was being service. A woman came in and we started talking and she said she really like the car but it was expensive to have service.

The dealer had a list of recommended service to be done every X miles, far more than the manual. Of course, oil change, lube, but they added things like dust the hub caps and polish the dipstick.

She took my advice to check the manual and saved a lot of money.

Dust the hub caps. Haha. Priceless.

without looking at manual. 4 years old 32,0000 guessing it needs
oil change - 200
cabin filter - 100
coolant change perhaps for about 400

ouch. the cabin air filters are ftom $8 to $30 for oem and a 15 minute diy.

The cabin filter is more like a 5-min job than 15. Ha ha. Super easy. And talking about that, does anybody know if that cabin filter is identical to the Kia Stinger? I'd be a lot cheaper to buy from Kia, since even the oil filter for my '22 Santa Fe Calligraphy is half the price from Kia (for the Sorento). Thank you.
I haven't had good luck with the fit from aftermarket filters, plus some are too restrictive, affecting airflow. Oh, and charcoal coating is crap, since I could still smell everything. So want to stick to OEMs from now on... but only if I don't get raped with the prices. Ha ha.
