  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

1800 mile road trip this past week. Averaged 27.8 mpg over the week. Lots of in town driving. Stopped idling a lot in hot weather. At least 20 or thirty trips over 100 on some quick passes. Actually saw 31 mpg sustained over a couple of tanks.
I'm delighted with that kind of mileage with the performance too.

What modes were you in at what times during your trip?

Double check your mileage manually based on gallons used for that is the most accurate. I’ve seen some differences from the car stated average to manual calculations based on gallons used between file ups. That way you know for sure how close your getting to 31mpg. My one 5 hour road trip on my 3.3 was like 25.8 average at 75mph.

Mostly just ECO. Comfort in the towns were in. No need for sport mode with the wife in the car. Pedal is really dead unless you floor it.

I did this! Actual mileage and gallons over two tanks was 30.78 mpg.

5000 mile road trip out west in February, I got 25.4 mpg..
Last month 1800 miles down south, 26.7 mpg.
Last week, 1800 miles, 28.4 mpg.
Curiously, it seems to get better mileage in hot weather.

How many miles on the car so far total? Looks like 10k?

Correction. 27.8 mpg over the past week. 28.4 mpg coming back yesterday.
When I hoon about town. I can get it under 15. But that's not driving "sensibly" as the manual suggests.

“Sensibly” is no fun at all! :) On the other hand, being sensible could be interpreted as just using the features you payed for. Waste not, want not. Performance is a big one so it’s sensible to utilize it. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!

I'm just amazed at the mileage with the big dog motor. Thrilled in fact. Used to be more of a trade off.

Yup. Me, too.

You're lucky, I would say you're in the minority. Most of us are rather disappointed in the mileage (at least compared to German competitors). I've never gotten more than about 27 actual mpg, with cruise on at 70mph (it's about 10% lower than the car says). That's with the narrower all season tires @ 39psi (a bit above spec).
In mixed driving on country roads I get about 21 in comfort and 19 in sport.

30.5 mpg on 1300 mile RT this past week on computer. 3.3 AWD

Outstanding! Best I've done so far is 27.5 (on a 400 mile road trip). Worst was just under 15 (I drove around town in Sport mode for a full tank, just to see how bad it would be)...

How much difference was there in the cars computer and your calculation results? I’ve usually seen plus one half to one MPG showing on the computer vs. actual. I wonder if that still prevails on the latest models.

The difference was 0.22. I think the computer always reads a little high. I know the speedometer says about 1 - 2 mpg high when I go through those radar signs. 5% off means they're screwing me out of about 1500 miles on a 30k lease. 😡
