If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Seems like a great deal... Thoughts? Have every option available, AWD, headlight washers, heated steering wheel, heated back seats w/ control cluster in cup holder, Dark grey, mint condition. 3.8 sig PKG, tech PKG, wheel locks everything upgraded.

On the flip side, dealer is giving me $14 for my 2011 3.6, silver 65k mikes fully loaded (tech, prem pkgs)

Why don't you get a new Genesis for a few thousand more? Also...I don't think $14 is a good deal lol.

I appreciate the response. I agree $14K for my trade hurt a little, but I only owed 10k. Not sure they are selling it for more than $18k, with the high volume of 2013's for sale around here.

The MSRP on a new 2015 AWD is $40,550 after adding Sig Pack ($4k), Tech Pack ($3.5K) new we are looking at $49k (more than a few 1000s from $34k). There are no new 2015s left in my area, AWD and fully loaded. The same car new 2016 is mid $50ks.

You seem to be trying to justify the price on the used Genny about which you asked for opinions. It is a used car with the best 20,000 miles (two years?) of it's life already gone. You are also comparing it to the list price of a left-over 2015 model.

In addition, the dealership appears to be low-balling you on the value of your car. It's your money so do as you please but the opinions that you requested are here for you to read.

In all honesty dude, and this is MY opinion, I would not buy it.

However, like Jarred52 said, it's ultimately up to you.

Have you got your car appraised at Carmax? With my experience, they tend to offer more than stealerships.

Goodluck!

I haven't purchased it yet, and I'm not looking for a e-fight. I appreciate the knowledge of this community.

Trade in 2011 65k miles KBB is $14,000 - $16,000, Black Book is $13,155
- could I get more than $14k, probably

2015 20K Ultimate Pkg, V6, perfect color IMO, every upgrade possible
- list price $38,999 (joke), got them to drop to 34,999 but only $12,000 for trade

- Ended at $34K for 2015 and $14k for trade
- Dealer cut bumper to bumper 100k extended from $2650 (joke) to $1200 (I can live with that)

- New 2016 same car is $54k-$57k

- New 2015 same care is $49k+

- 2015 Used same car....well, there are not any around here (north of ATL), that are AWD, Ultimate, Empire Grey.

Now, yes I can justify the purchase, but the purpose of my original post was to see if I'm grossly missing anything here? And my bank will give me new car APR because this is a 2015.

I'm not looking to out smart anyone here, but the only responses I've got are "pay a few more 1000s and go new", or "don't do it". Anyone have constructive info verse baseless opinions?

As I type this 3 new threads have popped up nn the main forum page on post purchase regrets/issues...off to read those...

No one here has tried to pick an "e fight". You asked for opinions, and you got them. It is not up to the forum members to do your research as that is reliable only to your specific situation. It is obvious that you want to do the deal and are here looking for support. Make the decision that is best for you considering your needs, desires, and financial condition.

I wish you the best with whatever you decide to do and will cease with my "baseless" comments and opinions.

I'll try to give some info that may put this in better perspective. Kelly Blue Book would value this car at about $36K (Actual Cash Value, not Selling price). Typically KBB is sometimes a bit high vs. what folks actually get in trade, or what the car will bring at auction.

The next data point to consider is that NEW 2015s optioned the same way are selling for between $39K-$43K. If you are spending about $35K with the Warranty, the question is this : Do you think 20,000 miles are worth saving $4K -$8K?
Only you can answer that.

The other intangible is "can you find the color you want" new?

My personal opinion is that the car may be an "OK" deal, but in comparison to some of the new pricing, I'd pass. Again, YMMV.

In any case, drive the car and make sure that you have any issues corrected before you commit.

Coming from a guy who worked in the CarMax corporate office for 13 years, do NOT ever go there. Especially for appraisals.

Good stuff...

the 2015 new, in driving distance any color, same specs are $49k cheapest.

2016 new are mid 50ks.

Standard warentee in new 2015 only covers electrical and high tech up to 36k/3year. The $1200 I'm paying IF I purchase will extend 36k, 60k and 100k all to 100k (100k to 200k).

So it appears now may not be the best time to buy a used 2015, unless maybe extremely low miles and bank provides new car APR.

I need to do more research too, because I'm just not finding fully loaded, AWD, 3.8s 2015 new in the high $30s or even low $40s. I live north of Atlanta and the 3 major Hayndui dealerships have a total of 5 2015s, and only 1 used 2015, other than the one I'm looking at.

$14k doesn't seem bad to me. I just bought a 2011 4.6 with 75k miles for $13k.

Thanks beast, I couldn't locate any 2011 locally to compare, but there are TONS of 2013 with less miles going under $20k.

You got a good car, and a pretty solid deal I would say.

They could possibly bump your trade $500 depending on condition and tire tread, but that's it. Dealerships have been flooded in the past month with 1st Gen Genesis because of the E-Plan pricing on 2nd Gen, so $14K is fair. $34K is on the high side, but only by a grand or so. 20K miles on a 2015 is great mileage when you consider that it was released in the spring of 2014, and these pre-owned ultimate packages with the AWD are not easy to get your hands on.

Some of the members in these forums are very well informed and thoughtful in their discussions. Others have no idea what they are talking about and throw dollar figures around like they don't mean anything.

In my experience, the more you analyze and the more you quibble about a thousand dollars here and there the less enjoyable you will find the experience. Personally, I'd make an offer of $33,000 on theirs/ask for $15,000 on mine and be ecstatic if they would split with me on both.

Hmm, just bought me a new '15 5.0 for 38K, sticker was 52K. The dealer said Hyundai was offering employee circle pricing on '15's to move them out. Said it was a carry over from last month as they still had some '15's left. My dealer had like 5 of them left on the lot.

Since you bought this last month, I can only assume the deal was going on then. Wonder why your dealer didn't tell you that when you were looking for a '15. Or he just wanted to sell you that one so he could make more money. ;)

At least your happy with it. Enjoy.
